Default insurance coverage or %??

one more question..
Does insurance ever help cover a portion of any type of plastic surgery?? I never knew they did i was just willing to pay out of pocket.

Default Wait on the TT

Be patient with yourself and wait for the TT. I just had mine and it was hell! When the weight is gone deal with it. You were obese for a long time, let the weight come off and then make the next set of changes. I can't imagine any reputable surgeon touching you whe you still have another 50 or so pounds to go, since you will be back in the same boat again in 4 months and then what? A TT is no little nip or tuck, it involves dissection of ALL your abdominal muscles and mine was excruciatingly painful;!

Lindsay, insurance may cover a TT/panniculectomy if you have chronic rashes or cellulitis under the pannus (that big ass blob of skin/fat that hangs down). Check with your insurance company to see what their medical policy is for cosmetic and reconstructive for panniculectomy. Since WLS has become so popular, insurance companies are having to deal with this more and more. I got my TT and thigh lift covered. I had a hernia and chronic rashes that I needed oral antibiotics and antifungals. Plus, I made sure my PCp knew what the policy said and what had to be documented in my record. That's part of the problem. What I have seen for documentation from doctors has been pure crap. This is a huge reason why things get denied by insurance. The doctor just blames the insurance company but he/she should look a little harder at their crappy notes. They won't pay for my arms but I'm going to have that done the end of this year when I have the abd incision revisied. I have an area that needs to be cleaned up a little. Since my ins paid for the original surgery, they have to cover any revisions. Sue
