Thumbs up Protein Packed Chili...YUMMY

I just made this chili today and it was soooooo yummy!!

1lb. Ground Turkey (I also put in 3 chicken thighs cut into little pieces)
1 Large Onion Diced
2 Cans Diced Tomatoes w/green chili's (Rotel)
1 Small Can Tomato Sauce
Water...use the can from the tomato sauce to measure
2 Cans Kidney Beans
1 Can Pinto Beans
1 Can Great Northern Beans
1 Can White Beans
2 Packages of Chili Seasoning

Brown the meat and onions in a frying pan.
Drain all of the beans.
Put the beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, and seasoning into the crockpot...add the meat once it is finished browning. Mix all ingredients really well. Cook on high for 4 hours...or low all day long. I topped mine with shredded cheese for even more protein!!

YUM!!!

My wife just made this chili - smells great!

She was wondering how to figure out how much protein is in each serving, and what the serving size is.

Thanks,
Bob

Thumbs up Re: protein packed chili

There's a computer program called Mastercook. I have had this program for years and love it. I put all my recipes in it. You type in your recipe and can click on an icon and it will give you the nutritional breakdown. It will also scale recipes for you. I highly recommend it.

mmmmm, this is very similar to a weight watchers recipe that I have used for years. Add a can of corn and instead of the chili seasoning add taco seasoning and hidden valley ranch dressing mix. Yum!

No problem. We'll just figure a cup or so for the serving size, and use the grams of protein for a cup of beans.

Thanks for your response.

Yeah, we have that program too, though its not been used for a while. Thanks for the reminder. I'll start adding recipes to it as my wife finds those she likes.
