My friend has lemons and oranges and when i get them i usually make it by the glass.
Roll the uncut lemon on the counter to soften it
Cut the top of one lemon off
Squeeze over the glass, open side up, so the seeds don't go in the glass
Add COLD water and Splenda to taste.
YUMMY!

Homemade lemonade
When someone gives me lemons I nuke them for about 10 sec. before juicing them. The microwaves break down the little cells of juice and the lemon is juicier. I use 1/2 c juice, sweetener of choice equivalent to 1/2 c. sugar, to 1/2 gal water. Yum! You can freeze the juice in 1/2 c quantities too, to use when you don't have lemons on hand.

It depends on tehlemon tree and the year it produces fruit. I have a lemon tree and last year's crop was very bitter as we had little rain. This year's shoulb be better. Also, many fruit trees that are planted are the ornamental type and notmeant for eating.

This is what I do.... First I make a base. I don't use anything artificial, so you may need to alter yours. The base is 1 and a quarter cup sugar dissolved in 2 and a half cups boiling water. Allow to cool, add 10 ounces of fresh sqeezed lemon juice and one teaspoon lemon zest. That's your base. Then it's a one to one with the base and fresh water. I like it this way becuse I can make a big mason jar of base, and just make it as I need it. If you are looking to just make a 1/2 gallon. Take the entire base and then fill remainder of 1/2 gallon with water. It's perfect lemonaide.

Heather, splenda says it's the same measurements as sugar, so try Robin's recipe with splenda instead of sugar. Sorry yours wasn't good.
