Default Perfect Microwaved Old-Fashioned Oatmeal

I've had great success with non-instant oatmeal and I hget to have total cntrol over the contents so I can minimize the sugar content since that still causes me to feel yucky.

Here's my secret formula for perfect microwaved old-fashioned oatmeal:
  • 1/3 cup of old fashioned 5 minute oats
  • 3 packets of Splenda
  • 2-3 dashes of cinnamon
  • 1 tiny shake (maybe 1/2 teaspoon?) of granulated brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup skim milk
  • 1/3 cup of water
Cover bowl with a paper plate or loose-fitting plastic lid and nuke on high for 1 minute. Stir. Nuke on high for another minute. Stir. Nuke on 20% power for one more minute and let stand with cover on for an addition couple of minutes to give it time to set up and cool slightly.

Often, I add in a heaping teaspoon of wheat germ, which adds extra fiber, protein and a bunch of vitamins b & e. I usually also add a few raisins for a little extra chewy sweet kick and loads of antioxidants and boron, which is a trace mineral that helps your body better process and use the vitamin D in the milk.

Old-fashioned whole rolled oats are not crushed so the oatmeal is kinda creamy and chewy but never mushy. And old-fashioned oats break down slower which gives you a full feeling longer.

Enjoy!

Rob

Thanks for the recipe! I have been in the mood for oatmeal lately. I hope it works with soy milk! Everything else seems to even sugar free hot chocolate!
