Wrapperless Potstickers
Potstickers were one of my favorite foods post op and now that I am on solids I was really craving some. But getting them from a restaraunt was a no go since I have no idea what they put in them. So I came up with this.
Maybe one of the ladies that is really good with the nutritional info can help me figure out how to get it.
Hope you guys like it.
1lb ground pork loin- I grind my own so I can control the fat in it but you can ask your local meat counter to trim most of the fat off it and grind it for you.
1 1/2 TBSP Soy Sauce ( use reduced sodium if this is an issue for you)
2 TBSP Sweet Chili Sauce
1 TSP ground or fresh ginger
1 TSP Seasame Oil
1 TSP red pepper flakes (you can alter this depending on how spicy you like things)
1/4 cup finely diced green onions/scallions ( I always keep of bag of these sliced up in my freezer since they go bad so quickly)
It's better if you combine everything and let it overnight in the fridge to blend all the flavors. But still good the same day.
You can either form little meatball like rolls out of them with 2 spoons or if I don't want to be bothered I spray a little Pam in a skillet and cook it over medium heat for 8 minutes on each side. You can also steam them and they tend to be a little juicer, the steaming takes about 20 minutes.
They went down easy for me and had alot of flavor.

That sounds interesting and something I would like to try. Could you possibly provide a recipe for them?

(simmering down) Okay, thanks! Airforcew1fe- do you think I could use some ground turkey instead of the pork? Or would it change the flavor too much?

I was just going to try making some tomorrow with half ground turkey and half ground pork. But I looked up the difference and it's a little over a gram of fat less per serving in the turkey than the pork loin.
So for me personally not worth it. But I would think it would work. Pork loin is a very lean meat. I would just not buy the pre ground pork in the grocery store because they tend to use pork butt/shoulder which is super fatty.

Thanks for the tip on the ground pork. The only reason I asked about the turkey is cuz there is some sitting in my freezer. I think the pork would be yummy!
Thanks again!
