Default Looking for early POST-OP recipes

Hi

I am trying to find some recipes that would be suitable for the first 4 weeks POST-OP.

For the first 2 weeks it is liquids (including milk product) and for the 3 and 4 week it is a pureed diet. Any suggestions on these early Post op diets would really help.

Thanks so much

The word "recipe" wouldn't be my choice of words for my meals early out! lol

Anyways - the first one that springs to mind is fat free refried beans with a spoon or two of marinara sauce and some cheese on top (I liked a sprinkling of parmesan).

Can I eat refried beans after surgery?

I thought you couldn't have those til week 3 and 4. This is my surgeon's recomenned meal plan but I don't think I can follow it for 2 weeks straight, Im loking for ideas on how to have some good tasting food without hurting my new pouch.

Here is the link to his diet

I don't see beans there but are they ok?

I was allowed refried beans as soon as I could have pureed foods, but all doctors and dieticians have different guidelines, so check with yours.

One of my favorite recipes for the pureed stage is ricotta cheese, topped with marinara sauce and a little grated parmesan cheese. Just nuke it for a few minutes.

While you're stuck with liquids, the best you can do, I think, is a variety of protein shakes. My favorite is eight ounces of skim milk, a scoop of vanilla protein powder, a packet of general foods international vanilla latte mix on the go, and a few ice cubes. You can find a bunch of good protein shake recipes on this blog: theworldaccordingtoeggface.

Well I am allowed the following for the first 2weeks after surgery:

cottage cheese, yougurt, pudding, cream of wheat, applesauce, oatmeal, strained cream soups, skim milk.

I went out and bought all my food today and hope I didn't mess up buying raspberry yougurt. Do u think the seeds would hurt.

Also how do I figure out if something is low fat/ low sugar. I mean the label says low fat or no sugar added but what is low fat or low sugar. What are the guidelins? Please help

try pasta free lasagna-layer cottage cheese w marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella and shredde parmesan for a bit o flavor.

or use taco seasonings w the cottage cheese and shredded cheddar,

white bean soup in chicken broth simmered long so beans are mushy.

try chobani greek yogurt-its thick, custard like, really creamy and has 15-18 grams protein!

good luck!

I will definetetly try your recipes the cottage chees one looks yummy. I am wondering if any Canadians no were to find high protein low fat yogurt.. I am having a had time. The only yogurt I could find low in fat and carbs was silhoutte and it only has 3g protein per 100ml

I believe that low fat is less than 5g of fat per 100g
Low sugar is considered less then 3g of sugar per 100g

What is "pudding"? Pudding to me is any form of desert...international slang I guess.

Pudding is a dessert made with milk. It is thick and creamy. Comes in different flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and butterscotch.

I was told no seeds early out, so you might want to rethink the raspberry yogurt.
