I've already decided to try this with the canned pumpkin and not add the spices....
I love pumpkin anything...

I have made this recipe every year for more than 20 years. Of course, I did it with the real versions of everything. This is my daughter's absolutely favorite pie...she begs me to make it even during the summer. I think I'm gonna try it this way for Thanksgiving this year so I can have a piece.

Reached my new goal of 130...and I think I want to stop losing now. "Stop losing now".Wow, I never thought I'd ever say that!
Looks like Donna is right though. My body doesn't seem to be done...

Oh, the one thing I'd say is that you really need the spices, but I half the amount of cloves...it's just too strong for my taste.

Awesome, I have passed this on to the pie maker in the family. I can't wait to try a little of it.

This sounds so good....I love pumpkin pie and had it in mind to find an alternative to make for the holidays that I could enjoy! Thanks for posting this!

I've never tried it with the pie filling but I've seen this recipe out there in several different places and they always stress not to use the pie filling. The puree is really easy to find. At least it is around here.

Debz, just curious - is is too strong now that you're post-op, or was it always that way? I ask because the flavor of cloves seems to have become intolerable to me since surgery, and I was wondering if other people have had the same experience...
The recipe sounds wonderful!

Well, canned pumpkin is pumpkin puree. Pumpkin comes two ways; either as puree or as pumpkin pie filling. Dont use the pumpkin pie filling because it doesn't work well with the vanilla pudding. I never knew there was a difference until this recipe. Just take a look the next time you make a grocery trip and check it out.

I love theis recipe even tho I hate pumpkin pie. I think you could mix cream cheese with cow turds, and I'd eat it with a grin on.
I've cut the cloves since the first time I made it, but now that you mention it, Cloves do taste even stonger since my surgery.
