Default High Protein "Orange Julius" Smoothie

I make this smoothie often and I LOVE it. It tastes alot like an Orange Julius. I posted it for someone and Zen gave it a try. She told me I should put it here. So here is is....one of my favorite morning meals.

1 sm container 2% Fage yogurt (17 gms)
1 envelope sf vanilla carnation instant breakfast (5 gms)
1 "on-the-go" orange crystal light (or try sf Tang to taste)
1 c ff milk (8 gms)
2 tsp vanilla extract
Splenda to taste

Put all ingredients into a blender and add ice if desired, until desired thickness.

This recipe will give you 30 grams of delicious protein!!

Zen suggested maybe putting in orange slices into the blender. If you can tolerate the natural fruit sugars that may be really good!

Yum, this sounds great Beth. I've became a Fage fanatic....however, it's bankrupting my grocery budget. I looked up a couple of recipes online and I'm going to try making it myself. It doesn't sound that hard, but of course I haven't tried it yet, lol.

Go to their website and you can email the company and ask. But, if you have a Whole Foods or Trader Joes, you can definitely get it there. They sell 0%, 2%, and a full fat variety. My personal fave is the 2%, although I've never tried the full fat...don't want to try it as I know I would probably like it better, lol.

yeah, I know it is pricey...$1.79 here for the small container but it's my entire breakfast so hey, breakfast under $2.00 sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I know some people make their own from plain yogurt. I've never done it so I'm not sure how good it is or how it compares. Do you have Meijers in your area? I thought there were some in Illinois. That's where I buy mine. I also have found them in a couple of Spartan stores and the Fresh Market store.

I'll make it over to Trader Joe's to get some...they have other things I like too, so it will be worth the trip

Thanks Beth!! You are always so helpful I appreciate it

Oh, darn!! I was hoping that maybe you would have a Meijers nearby.

...and you're welcome. It's my pleasure...it really is.

Once you find that Fage make sure you don't eat it plain. It will taste just like Sour Cream. But mixed with a little crystal light...mmmm...it's my morning breakfast almost every morning! I love the stuff!
