Default Legal Pizza

My wife made this pita pizza last night, and I LOVED it! Thought I'd share:

1/2 medium whole wheat pita (cut in half around the perimeter so you have two round pieces)
1/4 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (part skim)
1/3 cup ground beef (cooked with a little garlic and onion)
1 tablespoon of Parmesan cheese

Put pita on cookie sheet (ungreased is fine...)
Spread tomato sauce on the pita
I put the parmesan on top of that, but you could add it on top when done as well...
Next layer is hamburger, then cheese on top.

Bake at 450 for about 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.

It was HEAVEN on a pita, and tasted remarkable. I can totally eat pizza this way!

Fat:15 (I know that's kinda high, but it IS pizza...)

I totally love pizza made on pita! Fell in love with it when we were doing WW back in the day. Edited to add, we'll do pita pizza nights where I put out a variety of toppings and everybody creates their own. It's a hit with my guys.

Oh yum!

You know, you could really go to town with a base recipe like that. Swap out the beef for some of Jenny-o's Italian turkey sausage - red peppers and olives.......mmmmmm!

Swap the burger and use tuna and sweetcorn.

Thanks Mike! hugs.

Sounds and LOOKS good. Gonna have to try it. I"m thinking... lots of banana peppers on there too. (in addition to the protein of choice). I loves me some banana peppers.
