My aunt made this dip this weekend. It is a can of the Rotel, a pound of sausage, and a block of cream cheese. She browned and drained the sausage, then rinsed it. She put it in the crock pot with the cream cheese and the tomatoes and let it sit on low, stirring occasionally until it was dip consistency and hot through and through. It was amazing! I bought turkey sausage and light cream cheese to make mine, but I'm sure it will taste relatively the same!

any idea the nut value?
This sounds so good. I have decided to cook all "good for you" foods this weekend - to see how the kids react

I'll try to figure it out tomorrow. I'm sure it's not great on fat, but probably really good on protein!

how does it sound to toast the pita halves in the oven....spread with peanut butter and top with SF jelly/preserves of choice?
Or cream cheese and SF jelly/preserves. I know this sounds sick, but I love cream cheese with applesauce

for the breakfast one, I would suggest lite or ff cream cheese. Mmmmmm, I can see it with cream cheese, scrambled eggs, sausage...
my family has used a block of cream cheese for a pound of sausage mixture for years. Mix the sausage and cheese, and then roll out grands biscuits flat, put a spoonful of sausage mixture on it and fold over, then bake. They taste like biscuits and gravy - but voila, they are contained within the biscuits.
LOL, okay so that's not pouch friendly, but at least you get the gist of what I'm trying to say about the cream cheese and sausage for a breakfast pizza

Sounds excellent!
I've got a Kashi pizza in the oven right now to try. I hope it's good...it was expensive!

ok, I have to admit the whole pita thing toasted is delicious. I have to watch myself, or i could become a pita addict, and i don't need all the carbs!
Now ... since i admitted i have a problem.. i made a delicous lunch today
Took the 1/2 whole wheat pita and toasted it up a bit with some fake butter in the toaster oven so it would get crispy. added on some thin sliced mesquite turkey, onions, mushrooms (gotta love the extra iron) and provalone cheese and popped it back in until warm and bubbly and the cheese was golden on top.
Oh my word.. i can still only eat a half of the pitas right now, but that was one delicious sandwich.
THanks again Mike, for inspiring some new ideas!
