Sherry, I've never tried it but I almost wonder if you could just take the entire recipe and put it in like a pie plate. The thing is you need to be able to surround it in a hot water bath in order to cook the custard. hmmm...I don't know.....it may be worth a try. But don't yell at me if it doesn't work! *L*

Thanks Beth. I ventured out of the house today and went to the Big Lots store near me. I found some 8 oz stoneware dessert dishes there, and bought 6. I think I'll try making this tomorrow.

Let me know what you think. Actually I should make some of these up myself tonight so I have something I can tolerate after surgery tomorrow. These really have turned into one of those foods I gravitate to when I don't feel well and I think I have everything I need to make it. It just sits so nice on my pouch and I know by tomorrow night I'm going to have to get something into my pouch after not being able to eat all day.

Oh, poor Beth. I hope you'll feel much better once you get that nasty gallbladder out.

Isn't the doc going to keep you in the hospital overnight? I know insurance companies are cutting back, but I hate the thought of "drive-thru" surgery.

Have you ever tried cinnamon on these instead of the nutmeg? I'm not a huge nutmeg fan, unless it involves a cup of egg nog.

Gallbladder surgery usually is outpatient. He told me we will just see how it goes. It is going to depend on how late the surgery actually is and how I'm doing. I ALWAYS get REALLY nauseated after general anesthesia, even with meds, so we shall see. I'm going prepared to spend the night.

Nope, never tried Cinnamon but I'm sure it would be fine. I've actually even gone without the nutmeg because I forgot to add it on and they were just as good.

Thanks for the well wishes, Sherry. I'm ready to get this done and over with. I've really been kind of a hurtin' puppy all weekend. I've needed to take my Vicodan pretty regular to keep the pain under control.

I suppose "drive thru" surgery just creeps me out Beth. It seems like the things that are outpatient today, involved a hospital stay just a few years ago. I can't help but think it's the fault of the insurance companies. You're a nurse, so I'm sure you probably have some opinions on that, one way or another.

Since the custard is in individual dishes, I'm going to make 2 plain, 2 with nutmeg, and 2 with cinnamon. Variety is the spice of life!

Good vibes are going out to you for tomorrow.

Dez and Sherry, thank you for your thoughts for me today. I'm outta here in about 90 min. I am SO past being ready to get this nasty little sucker out and make sure nothing else is going on in there. It just kinda concerns me that I have pain in 2 pretty different places...but we shall see. It's one of the reasons my bariatric surgeon wants to do it...he wants to do some additional exploring to make sure we aren't missing something else too. So who knows what will be on the other side. It may turn into a bit bigger surgery than initially thought.

I just want to feel better.

I'm sure everything will be much better real soon. I hope there are no other complications with that other spot that's hurting. *big hug* Thinking of you...

OMG! I finally made the tuna patties and I am in love! I put two on my plate for dinner and two in my container for lunch and I'm all set! My hubby and mom like them too, my daughter hasn't tried them yet.
