I've made them with albacore (sp?) white tuna and they are great! I'll admit to putting extra shredded parmesan cheese in them.

Deborah, it really makes no difference if you use the light or the solid white. They both work. I just use the light because the solid white has higher lead levels than the light. I've also made these with crab and I bet you could use salmon too. That's what I like about this recipe is you can really individualize it with different seasonings, etc.

I just made salmon patties on Friday. I just winged the recipe, but it was very similar to this one. I didn't use mayo, and did use some bread crumbs. They were YUMMMMMY
I am going to have to try the crab too, and maybe chop up some shrimp too.

That's what I love about this recipe. It is a really good basic recipe that can be tweeked in so many different ways to change the taste. I haven't tried salmon or shrimp but it sounds good!....well the shrimp does. *L* I dumped SO BAD on salmon about 3 months postop and I haven't tried it again. I would probably be just fine but after 3 hours of dry heaves and the foamies I'm rather gun shy when it comes to salmon.

OMG, why did I open this thread and read it? I just started my pre-op liquid diet today, and I'm starving to death. Seeing this yummy recipe is like torture.
Sigh...I think I'm going to go have ANOTHER cup of yummy, wonderful chicken broth.
