Bread Replacement Idea
i have shared my spinach leaves roll ups on another thread but thought i put them here so all could see
i use raw spinach leaves as bread
i wash them, lay them flat, spread them with anything really, some ideas are, egg salad, tuna mixed with mayo or cottage cheese, crab dip, deli meats and cheese (i have warmed the deli meat topped with cheese on a plate, i like cheese melted best) then put it in the spinach leaf and roll them up and eat them
easy to take to work
they are good, fill with your favorite protein choice, roll and eat

i use the precut squares at costco or sams club as my bread - i put mayo on sal and pepper tomato and lunch meat it is SO good and now i can eat the entire thing - i have use lettuce as bread - as a matter of fact when i am out and cant make anything i go to bel air raleys - any grocery store that makes sandwiches and tell them i dont eat bread and they use the lettuce and put everything i want on it - i dont miss bread! I am trying to get my dad to think this way as he needs to lose weight so badly but since his mild heart attack (he's 60) they think its to risky for him but its probably a dr thing we all know if you get one against it they will never help you...my dad has diabeties high blood pressure high cholesteral and he is very active snowskis paints his own house remodeled the bathroom laying tile and everything after the heart attack so i dont think it would be a bad thing for him to have the WLS but i have to help him find a PCP that will agree and he loves his PCP so thats not happening right now - his other Dr recommended lypo now that is not going to change the way he eats so i dont think that is the answer...but i know the surgery changed my eatting and i want that for my dad....frustrating!

That is a great Idea Carrie. I have battling the bread. My thing about the Spinach leaves is, are they OK to eat again? I am going to try your idea.

i dont buy the bagged spinach, only the fresh bunch in store spinach
it is the bagged spinach that had the poisoning issues
so i would not suggest buying that product, all bagged salads have had issues, so i stay clear of that!
lots of peeps use lettuce the same way as i use spinach leaves, but spinach has more nutritional value to it, and for some reason easier for me to eat, i handle spinach better than leaf lettuce, weird eh?
bread is so heavy and i dont do well with it even toasted, so this is definitely a better alternative and way less calories and all
