  1. Stomach Flu...

I just want to whine and complain how much worse the stomach flu is after GBP. It is much harder to try and stay hydrated, which makes it harder to keep my fever down. Plus I can't take motrin to get rid of the fever. That is all...just wanted to complain. I still love my surgery though and am so glad I did it.
  2. Grazing....bad or good?

I take 3 Citracal at a time twice a day...that is 1200 mg. I also have an 8 oz serving of mile and a few ounces of cheese a day. Prior to taking Citracal I was taking Bariatrix Advantage twice a day, as this is what was originally recommended by my nut.
  3. Grazing....bad or good?

I have to take my vitamins with food....if I don't eat 5 times a day, I don't get in all my vitamins. Because I take multi vits twice a day, calcium twice a day, and iron once a day (and B once a week) and there needs to be 2 hours between each vitamin dose, I have no choice. Granted I consider 2 pieces of string cheese or a protein shake a "meal"....but this is the plan I was given from my nut and my weight control center...
  4. Body Odor

OMG....I have the same problem and thought I was going crazy! I just bought clinical strength waterproof deordorant - first time in 2 1/2 months I have taken off my shirt at the end of the day and not wanted to gag!!!
  5. I don't know about a website, but I can tell you that this is exactly the way I felt at 3 weeks. I still have some days I feel that way, but most days are ok. You should be about to turn a corner - but beware...a stall is probably right around the corner...keep doing what you are, it will get easier and you will feel better.
  6. When will it end?

Steroids are horrible on your body and with your cycle going crazy, this sounds like it could be hormones causing problems...of course I am NO doctor..but I have taken prednisone many many times. I hate the way it makes me feel, it always causes temporary weight gain, and it tears up your stomach. Are you getting any type of hot/cold flashes or are you flushed? That is another side effect of steroids. The side effects aren't always immediate...it depends on how much builds up in your system.
  7. In Michigan Needs Help!

I don't know what area you are in. I don't have HAP but one of my good friends who had gastric bypass just over a year ago does. She lives in the metro Detroit area and had to go through Henry Ford because that is the hospital network HAP covers in our area. I don't know about the pinched nerve, but the bmi itself should be enough. If you are in the Detroit area, check out Henry Ford's website for info. If not, call HAP or check their website.
  8. Caffiene?

I don't know what the recommendations are for Lap Band. I had RNY and the rule is no caffeine...due to the dieretic effect and it can interfere with calcium absorbtion. Wish I could tell you more, but I have no idea about the differences between recommendations for the different surgeries.
  9. Calorie Intake

The other thing to know is that MOST of us had a stall at the 3 week mark. It is totally normal to stall right now. Just keep doing your best. Have you tried ricotta cheese or greek yogurt yet?
  10. Calcium

I found Citracal at the drug store....pills you swallow. I was also desperate to not gag on Bariatric Advantage Calcium anymore! All the other vitamins they make are fine, don't know what makes the calcium so bad.
  11. I don't want to eat!

I had surgery just over a month after you...I never want to eat. Every now and then I get some head hunger, but if I do eat I feel sick. Recently life has been stressful and before surgery I would have eaten my way through the stress...now the stress makes me want to eat even less.
  12. Stress NOT-Eating?

Any previous stress eaters find themselves NOT eating due to stress now? It seems like I went from being the worst binger, to now even the thought of food makes me sick to my stomach. Things are really stressful right now. While I'm glad to not be stress eating, I don't want to be stress starving either.
  13. ~*~February 2010 Staplers!~*~

I was thinking the same thing Cindy. 2 tbsp is only 1/8 of a cup!! Even if you eat 4 tbsp 3 times a day you aren't even eating a cup of food all day! And I don't know about anyone else, but I have to eat at least 5 times a day in order to get all my vitamins in...can't take them on an empty stomach and I have to take 2 multi, 2 calcuim, and 1 iron per day. I don't know anything you could eat less than a total of a cup of food a day and get in 80 mgs of protein in.
  14. Wow I was not expecting this!

There is also a medical reason why those of us who suddenly are eating less carbs feel down...carbs help the brain regulate serotonin... http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2004/carbs.html So we get a double whammy - losing our 'best friend' and losing the chemical enducing benefit of carbs....
  15. The belly girdle thing

Did you have a open surgery or was your done lap? I didn't get anything either, but my surgery was lap.
