  1. I know the OP hasn't replied but I really wanted to say I've been in tears reading this thread. I've struggled with this all my life. 9 years ago I tried the band as a 'less invasive' procedure and literally gave up afterwards. I had no idea what I weighted, I guessed at 400+ and was pleasantly surprised that I was less. My mum told me something that also hit home, I hide behind my body. It makes me feel safe, it's my shield from the world. No one 'messes' with me and I feel strong. Actually, though I may be able to lift more than others I'm not very strong and I'm not comfortable in my own skin. It might sound like a complete contradiction that my body makes me feel safe but I'm not comfortable in it but it's true. I (hopefully) at least another 35 years on this planet and I want to make more of them than I have done with the first 35. Thank you all, I'm so thrilled to find this community.
  2. Hi Clark, good luck on Monday. I'm very new too, going in on 20th nervous but excited to begin this new chapter. I've only told my manager and one colleague who I share an office with to everyone else I'm on 'Medical Leave' it's so hard as a lot of my work is over the phone and I've not met these people to then be explaining something like this. How are you getting on with your pre op diet?
  3. Yikes! Ok you've put the fear of God in to me now! What I meant was I got v confusing advice from my dietician who openly admitted that there were things in her diet handout that were wrong. There is a big list of verboten vegetables but for example tomatoes were allowed on the list but then she said only 5 cherry tomatoes per day. As I say I am doing my very best to stick to the letter of the law, the only thing I am guilty of is combining meals. I've never been much of a breakfaster so at lunch I have the breakfast and lunch allowance combined. I must be doing something right as I've lost 10lbs in a week. What do you think??
  4. Thank you all, really interesting reading the stories here. Am currently on my liver reduction diet and trying my best to stick to it. Less than 2 weeks to go eeekkkk!!!
  5. Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself. I'll be having the bypass surgery in a couple of weeks. Am quite nervous as it's a band reversal too, I did lose some weight with the band but it never really worked for me either too loose or 0.5 later couldn't hold water down. This is my last chance saloon and am nervous but hopeful. Anyway this is me, hi
