  1. From consult to surgery in 1 week!

I love Clusie! She is hilarious. I have also been watching My Precious Life. She has an adorable family and she is happy to share her experiences.
  2. UnitedHealth care insurance

I am so glad they covered it for you, Jenn. :-) It seems each employer can request a different package of benefits. My company is tiny, so they couldn't afford more. Fortunately, I had a backup plan. Mrs G, I have read you can ask your employer to upgrade this on a case-by-case basis, so it may be worth checking out. In the meantime, pursue more intensive testing and ask the surgery clinic for help. They have a strong incentive to get you approved. Don't give up!
  3. Hi All! 2 weeks post op and not losing yet ☹

I am still on the path, but the biggest things I know are to just follow the plan from my nutritionist and surgeon and listen to my body. I also take a walk after every meal. It helps me to digest the food and has the added benefit of burning a small amount of calories. I started with five minutes three times a day a week after surgery and am now up to 10,000 steps a day overall. It didn't happen fast, but it helps me feel like I am taking action towards my long-term health. Most importantly, love yourself. You've got this!
  4. UnitedHealth care insurance

United did not cover it for me, but Tricare did. I was reasonably healthy, but there were a lot of stats going downhill. Get tested for sleep apnea. United covered the test and most of the equipment cost for me. Arthritis, prediabetes, PCOS, high blood pressure and high cholesterol are also supporting causes. Our clinic has a patient advocate. She is an expert in getting the surgery approved. Maybe your clinic has one, too? This is life-changing. I will be thinking of you.
  5. Introduction

Thanks so much, everyone! I never expected to lose this much so soon, but I sure am grateful! It means more time with my family and far less pain. I now have to do the work to lose the last few pounds and then keep it off! :-)
  6. I would tell myself to quit panicking and drop the sugar. If I had droppedthe sugar, I might have been able to avoid the surgery. I panicked about my weight from early teens through surgery because everyone in my family was struggling with the same thing. I should have taught myself what I taught my daughter: Only eat when hungry and always eat when hungry. She has no weight problem because she has high metabolism, but also because she treats food as fuel. It took me a lot longer to get there.
  7. Introduction

Hello Everyone, I'm Ruthanne, 48, 7 months post-op. I am pretty close to goal weight and doing well with occasional hiccups. Nice to meet everyone!
