  1. Thank you! I will try these suggestions!
  2. Hello! I am 6 weeks post-op and wondered if anyone had the same feelings I am. I was told that I would not be hungry and essentially I am not. BUT my stomach growls and I have hunger pain. I have to eat a little something almost every 2 hours. I am wondering if I am just not eating enough when I do eat. Problem with that is that I cannot eat eat anymore than I do and to be honest, do not really want to eat when I do. It sometimes even wakes me up at night. I am doing well with the weight loss right now. I have lost 45 pounds so far so I am losing. I know that it is not head hunger because I feel it in my stomach. Am I going crazy or what?
  3. I am 6 weeks post-op and feeling good!  I have lost 45 pounds so far and learning how to eat healthy!  I still cannot see the weight loss but others have said that they can see it in my face!  I am excited!

Great job so far!  Just keep it up, and you will reach your goal weight and begin really enjoying life as a thin, healthy and active person.

  4. Hello! I am almost 3 weeks post-op and I am doing good! I am now on soft foods and will go to semi-regular diet on January 5th. I have lost a total of 33 pounds. I will take that!
  5. Yes, I have that as well. I am almost 2 weeks post-op. It gets better and now I only have it when my stomach is completely empty but it is more of a gnawing feeling instead of pain. I know it hurts right now but it does get better. I found that if you breathe in and exhale real slow out of your mouth it tends to go away pretty quickly. I hope you feel better soon!
  6. I had surgery on 12/8/16. It will be 2 weeks this coming Thursday. I have been on full liquids since 11/24/16 and I am getting so sick of the liquids. I will be able to start on soft foods on Thursday however. What I am struggling with is that I have only lost 28 pounds since the day I started my liquids and only 13 of that 28 has been since surgery. I know it has only been 2 weeks and maybe I should not be checking the scale everyday, but I guess I am just anxious I am going to fail at this when I see others losing so much in the first 2 weeks after surgery. One more question, when you eat the eggs, are they scrambled, hard-boiled or what? Do you only eat the egg whites? Help?!? Thanks!
  7. Hi Amber,  I happen to notice one of your comments on another post and looked at your information. You started out at 283 so I thought maybe I might ask a question from you.  I just had surgery on 12/8/2016 (just short of 2 weeks ago).  I started this process at 285 pounds.  My full liquid diet was supposed to start 1 week before surgery but I thought I would start 2 weeks before surgery to get a leg up on losing.  I lost 15 pounds and was down to 270 on the day of surgery.  Now 2 weeks out, I have only lost 13 pounds.  I guess I am getting frustrated because I am still on my full liquids and will move to soft foods in two days.  If I am only losing 13 pounds in two weeks and I am only on liquids right now, how am I going to lose weight when I start introducing more food? I know, it has only been two weeks but I am getting discouraged.  I know  I am probably getting impatient and I know that 13 pounds is a lot for 2 weeks but I guess I am scared I am going to fail at this.  Sorry for being whiny!  Please help!!

You were probably pumped full of liquid in your iv s in the hospital.  I gained 7 pounds while in the hospital.  It takes a few days to lose that as well.  Add to the fact that your body has had the shock of major surgery.  It will come together... stay on plan..

I did not weigh myself until I was 2 weeks out.... Lost about what you had and on the 3rd week the dreadful stall..... So don't worry! Adding solids will only help you loss weight in my opinion. Our body needs calories to loss weight. I didn't loss as much as some did and felt I was behind averaged 8 or so a month but what did it matter? In the end I lost 140 in a years time all the same. I can say I really sat not losing much at 3 to 400 calories I had to get over the mental game of adding more to loss more but I knew I was stalling because I was under eating. Once I was able to up my cals to 7-800 is when I real noticed a difference so don't fret remember you WILL end up losing the same amount in a years time weather its 10 pounds a month 15 pounds a month or 8 pounds a month we all seem to get to the end finish line just the same.

Thanks everyone!  Great advice!  I did start losing but have put the scale away and have decided to only weigh once a week.  I am learning so much here and I do not want to get to the point that I am so discouraged that I under eat.  I am going to stay on plan and just leave it at that.  Thanks again everyone!!  I appreciate your words of encouragement!!  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday!

  8. Thank you Bob! I am so appreciative of your reply! I will keep you all informed of the progress and you do the same! I have already lost 10 pounds since I started the pre-op diet last week. YAY! I too could only see myself going higher and higher with my weight. My mother died of a stroke and had high blood pressure. I was seeing my blood pressure go up as well. I have started having swelling in my legs and sever sleep apnea! I had to choose to do this and I am glad that there is this forum to help get my thoughts out! Thanks again!!
  9. Hulaw2007, You do not sound whiny to me. I completely understand. I am so sorry that you had that experience at the train station. I need to tell you that you are WORTH it. Just because you are 300 pounds does not make a difference as to the person that you are! I took a flight not long ago and was scared of the same thing. The seats were fine and I sat on the aisle. The seat belts were fine as well, (it was snug but it worked). I am not trying to talk you into getting surgery or anything, but I will say this about myself. I finally had to make the decision to take care of me. I too, was tired of being embarrassed. I will never forget getting kicked off of a ride at Sea World and then again the very next day at Disney World. Everyone was watching and I could not stand it! I also could not stand the thought at a family get together (recently at Thanksgivng )or even going out with friends and thinking that they were watching what I ate just because I am almost 300 pounds. I have surgery in 8 days and I have had so many friends that have had it. I ask them all the time if they would do it again given the chance and every one of them says that they would do it all over 100%. In the grand scheme of things, it is about you! Do not make a decision to have surgery until you are ready! I will be here to support you no matter what you decide and there are others on this site that will help as well. Good luck on your trip! You are going to be fine!
  10. Hello everyone, I am a newbie with a surgery date of 12/8/2016 --Just 8 more days! I am so nervous....I guess that is normal but I am so scared! I know I am doing this for me and to be healthy and I have done so much research so I know what I am getting into....just apprehensive. Thanks for listening (Reading)!
  11. I am on my pre-surgery diet now. I have one week and one day left until surgery. I can do this!! I can have yogurt, sugar-free pudding, sugar free Popsicle, broth, and I am now taking protein shakes three times a day. The headaches are a killer but I know that it will all be worth it in the end. I hope you are feeling better now that it has almost been a month since surgery!
  12. Thank you all! Great information and I appreciate the help. I was struggling!
  13. Hello, I am 2 weeks away from my Sleeve surgery. I am currently on my full liquid diet and it has been going good so far and I have not been hungry until today. I have 1 more week of full liquids and I think it is going to be okay. I do have a question for anyone that would like to help me. I am drinking the Protein drinks and was wondering if anyone can help me find one that is easy on people that have a lactose sensitivity. I have tried Whey (Which was so wrong for me) and I am not drinking Muscle Milk (which has proven to be better on my stomach, but still irritates it occasionally). Does anyone have a better protein drink that might be better? Thank you!
