  1. 1 year post op and 29 weeks prego!!!! (both today)

we werent trying to get pregnaunt. we were told that even if i lost all my weight i would still need medical help to get prego. at 5 months and 3 weeks roughly is when i got prego and did a test about 1 week after my missed period. I will be 38 weeks this thursday with a healthy little boy. OB thinks he will be here before his 40 weeks on the 18th. OMG i am so excited.
  2. OMG, this past year has gone by so fast.I am so happy that I chose to have the surgery done. This past year has had its up and down but all worth it in the end. I did have a few small complication about 5 weeks post op. I ended up with a kidney stone, ulcer, and a restriction all at the same time (1st time for all of them). I was in and out of the hospital 9 days, which 5 of them I was admitted to the hosptil. I have come to love my self again and have the self confidence that I use to have. I think my friends enjoy spending more time with me now because I am not such a debbie downer. LOL. I have my 1 year check up on the 16th and excited to see what the Doc thinks of my progress. When I went in for my 6 month check up I had lost 78% of my body weight, and my A1C was down to 5.3 from 10.0 at the start of my liquid diet. All my other labs came back great. My biggest news is that I am 29 weeks prego!!! I am so excited because this is one of the reasons I had the surgery. I am having a little boy and I am due Feb 18,2016. My nestting has hit me full force this past weeked. I just need to get carpet down in babies room and the rest of the house will come together, since I have his stuff everywhere, which then messes up other rooms. I am a first time mom with 2 step kids 17 & 13 ( I have been in their lives for 10 years now). So I know a little, but nothing about babies. OMG this is crazy, I cant wait to meet my little guy. Hubs is so excited as well. I have my next OB appt on the 15th and we will get to see him, and we are also doing the 3d ultrasound. I havent seen him since September since OB didnt put me as high risk. She is saying I havent gained enough weight, but I am doing what I can to make sure he is healthy. HW 256 SW 231 CW 175 ( I made it down to 156 (100# mark) at my 7 month check in. So, the weight I gained is prego weight only.

  4. timing..surgeon and OB differ in advice

I was 5 months and 3 weeks post op when I got pregnant and my surgeon said wait 12-18 months as well. I have a hereditary condition and they told me I would need medical help even if i lost all my weight. Low and behold only needed to lose the weight. I am now 26 1/2 weeks prego today with a healthy boy Xander. I would really talk to your hubby and discuss all options and then go from there . I have read where ladies are around 43 and getting prego after surgery and have happy healthy babies. best of luck.
  5. I ended up with a kidney stone, ulcer, and stricture all at one time. I was in and out of hospital for 9 days which 5 of them I was admitted to the hospital. I dry heaved for 9 1/2 days. Kidney stone passed the same day it showed up (lucky me I know). My ulcer was right where the reattached the intestants to our new stomach. The did an EGD while I was admitted into the hospital. Once they figured out it was an ulcer they were able to put me on the correct meds. It took a few days for the dry heaving to stop, but oh man did that feel good. I was 5 weeks post op and I havent had any issues since. This was the 1st time for all 3 issues for me.
  6. Excess skin and baby bump

Definitely a baby bump. I use to work at macys and I had 2 customers ask me if I was pregnant (this was before I had WLS). One person I said yes I am about 7 months (when I wasnt prego at all) and the other one I said no I am just fat. well I was going to put a pic on here but it keeps telling me there is a problem with your upload. oh well. I will be 21 weeks tomorrow and I know people who dont know I am prego thinks that I am gainging my weight back. I think it is ingrained in their head that most people gain their weight back after WLS. Best of luck and enjoy.
  7. RNY and Prego

Just an update. I was able to find out that baby wookie is going to be a boy. Will call him Xander Gage. OB say s everything looks great and all tests came back negative. My platelets are a little high but that is normal for my, but looked up a few things online and noticed by research I am still in the normal range. Doesnt seem like OB is to concerend about my platelet count. I cant believe that Thursday I will be half way through pregnancy. Still not feeling any movement from Xander, but I know it will happen sometime soon. If i dont feel him by Oct 14th (next OB appt) I will ask my OB about it. ~Dani*Bear~ I had surgery 2 days after you. When is your due date?
  8. Ttc 12-16 months

My surgeons office said 12-18months as well. I was one of those that got prego before the 12 month month. I was told that even if i lost all my weight i would still need medical help to get prego so me and hubs didnt worry about using condoms all the time. We had tried to get prego for 8 years and nothing. Lets just say the only medical help i needed was losing my weight. I got prego at 5 months 3 weeks post op and I am 18 weeks prego. Saw my OB Monday and see says everything looks great. I had lost 100# before i got prego and was only 15# from goal weight. I would try to weight as close to 12 months as possible. So then that way you weight will be more steady. Just my opinion. Best of luck.
  9. RNY and Prego

Yes I was diabetic before surgery and a week after I was off my insulin. I check my morning sugars every day now and they are around 78-84. I take an iron pill everyday anyways, so I hope that will help with my iron levels. I hope they do all the lab work on monday. This is my first so I am so new at this. My main thing is wanting to know which route my new OB will be taking about me being high risk or not because of surgery. I think once I start to feel wookie moving around I will not worry as much. When you start feeling the flutter, is it very noticeble? I am 17 weeks today. Yippie!! I have military insurance and not sure if they would pay for blood DNA test, but I guess I will wait since I am so close to the time of finding out anyways.
  10. RNY and Prego

Hi everyone. This is my first post under this forum and I am so excited to be here. I found out I was prego at about 6 months 3 weeks post op. I would have been about 5 weeks prego at the time. My husband was so excited for me to take the test he stsood over me like a hawk when I tried to pee on the stick. I told him to stand out side bc I couldnt pee while he was watching but the moment I was done he was there watching the test. LOL. Tomorrow I will be 17 weeks. I can believe I am prego. I got prego when I was 17 but lost it 2 days after I found out. My husband and I have been trying for 8 years to get pregnant. I lost 100# from my highest weight before I got knocked up. I have gained 6-8# depending on the day. Nutritionalist and OB states I should only gain 15-25 per my BMI. Hope I can stick with in that range. I have an appointment on sept 14th with new OB. I will be 17 1/2 weeks along. I hope she will do an ultra sound so I can make sure baby wookie is doing good. I hope I can start feelings some flutters inside to know baby is moving around. Not knowing is killing me. I did have an ultrasound at 12 weeks and baby was very active with heart beat of 163. Do you think they can find out gender at 17 1/2 weeks? I know they say normally 18-20 but is 3 days really going to make a differance?? Maybe it does. Weather its a boy or girl, I dont care, just as long as baby and I are healthy!!!! Due Date Feb 18th, 216 Congrats to everyone.
  11. Random Sunday Thoughts - 8/22

i am hoping that i get to go to the Cowboys stadium in October early November. Cowboys have been my team since I was in 5th grade. I had my RNY back on Dec 3. my 7th month mark I was down 100# from my heaviest weight. At that time though I was about 6 weeks prego. So that is why I would like to go to the Stadium for a tour and to watch a game in October so I am not waddling around. Glad you had a great time with the tour even though you were sick. I have found that the only thing my taste changed on was Dry wine. I love dry wine now. Everything else i ate before i still can. I know everyone is different. Have a great journey. Try to stay positive because in the end, it is all worth it.
  12. 3 Days before my new life begins!

Best of luck Shelleepoo and NewB. I am a little over 8 months post op and 100# down from my heaviest. i did have a few complications about 5 weeks out, but to this day i would still do it all over again even knowing what will come. This is the best choice that you can chose for yourself. I am so glad i did it. I have my self confidence almost all the way back. I am so active and i do not get tired as easily. See you on the losers bench.
  13. Stalls - why do they upset me so?

We are about the same. I am 5'-4" and at 163. i am in 13/14. My goal is to be 135-140. I do not look like i am 163 lbs. when i tell people that i want to lose another 25-30 lbs they look at me and say either "where?" or "ok.. Everytime i look at a pic of me now i still see the fat girl i once was. I can see the changes but it is not registering. Oh i am 6 months post op on June 3rd. Give it time, your mind will catch up with your eyes. Best if luck.
  14. Six Months, 5 Days Post-Op

i know what you mean about weight being frusterating. i am almost 6 months out and for the last few weeks i have been btwn 164-166, goal weight is 135-140. I am in a size 14 pants and xl top. which is weird bc i thought i would have been in a smaller top. I think my boobs are happy where they are at and not going to get any smaller, which is fine with me. I am not sure about moving fast through sizes once in normal size clothes. I just know i want to get down to a size 9/10.
