You must be 100% ready for this surgery.  Ready to make the changes that are needed to adapt to your new way of life. If not then you could have a harder time adjusting after surgery.
I do NOT regret my decision  to have my bypass, one bit. I was FINALLY excited for a new healthy lifestyle.  I was ready to let go of the fast food, soda, and junk food. Me personally also let go of white bread, pasta, and rice (because those were my go to foods)
It took me a very long time to do the research and find out everything I could on the before and afters of bypass surgery  - including the diet for the weeks following the surgery and then the new diet for life. Only moved forward when I knew I was ready to make the commitment to change and to adhere the "rules" for LIFE!
I am almost  five years out (had reached my goal in less than a year) and have maintained my weight loss and healthy way of eating.
    LOVING LIFE!

How great is you story!  Congrats!
  10. Lori88 added a post in a topic Reintroducing myself... it's been too long

Hi and welcome back.   I to am anemic.  I have been iron prescribed pills for the last three years.  Started one a day, then 2 a day and then 3 a day.  Did not work  so I just recently started Iron infusions.  1 treatment a week for 5 weeks then I will be retested.  This is my only "side" effect from surgery. About a year ago I was having low sugar episodes a  couple times a week but I have that under control now - I have to eat every couple of hours and it seems to work.  As far as dumping I used to a lot a the beginning but not so much any more unless I overeat which is very rare!
I log in a couple times of week just to read and occasionally post - I truly believe that it helps me stay on tract.  I am 4/2 years out and still going strong.  I love TT!

I just started my Iron Infusions - 1 treatment a week for 5 weeks and then will be retested.  I have done 2 infusions so far.  Nothing to it - they put IV in hook up the bag of iron and that is it.  You just have to sit there till bag is done - Mine takes about 2 hours each infusion.  I had no reactions/side effects.
    Easy Breezy!

    So Happy for you.  Congrats!
  13. Lori88 added a post in a topic Question for you long-termers..

4 & 1/2 years out and YES you can now eat things you could not eat -  even a few months ago.  And yes can eat a LOT more Inotice that about 3 years out .
But again,  just because you can does not mean you should!    It is all about balance now -  calories in verse calories burned - if you eat more than you burn you will gain weight!
  14. Lori88 added a post in a topic Drinking coffee

After surgery I had up to 2 cups with Fat Free powder creamer and very small amount of sugar.  Now 4 & 1/2 years I have up to 4 cups of coffee a day.
