  1. HI there! I am having both of those surgeries next Wed. A little bit anxious but looking forward to it. I am a little over a year and a half out and have held a steady weight for a few months now. 144lbs lost total. I'll keep you posted.
  2. Hi Dawn! I see you haven't been active on here lately but I wanted to say hello since we are neighbors :) I'm sure you are out living your new life! If you log in, come say hi!

  3. Welcome to the club! I had Dr. Kruger but just noticed in my medical records that your Dr. assisted in my surgery. I guess they must have done a good job, I'm still here and so far pretty successful too! I thought that the hospital was great. No problems. Other than having to wait a little while to actually going into surgery, the preop people where very nice. I was just super anxious and wanted to get it over with! I guess the Dr. was a little behind that day. Once the surgery was done you end up on a floor with all bariatric patients, so all the nurses specialize in our surgery and recovery. I think my nurse was Amy and she was wonderful. Stern (had me up and moving pretty quickly) but very kind. You will be walking the halls sooner than you can believe! In regards to your date, you will find out what your date is during group therapy. I think we started finding out dates about three weeks into group. If you are going to group in February I am willing to bet your date will be sometime in March. I believe that some of the people in my group were heading to surgery a week after group ended. So you are right around the corner from success my friend! Please keep in touch with me and let me know how you are doing. I will be happy to answer any questions you have seeing as we have gone through the same surgery with the same group. I am so happy I did it! Feeling so much better 10 months out!! Thanks for writing and I will look forward to hearing from you again soon. Dawn:)
  4. Hi there! I am currently 10 months out and am fed up already with the extra skin and big saggy belly that I now have. I am hoping that a few of you can answer some questions. First, I would like to have surgery on my inner legs and lower abdomen. Does anyone know the technical name for these two surgeries? I think that I can definitely tone my mid section but the lower part is just large and sagging now that I have lost all this weight. Is there anything you can say or do to have insurance cover any of the cost or is this considered totally cosmetic? Also I am wondering if there is anyone in Massachusetts that knows of an excellent dr. who might do these procedures. This isn't something that I take lightly and really want the best I can find. One more thing, about how long after surgery should we/ are we asked to wait before considering surgery like this? I thank you all in advance for your help and advice. Dawn:)
  5. Just wanted to chime in and tell you I am from Yarmouth Ma. On Cape Cod. Had my surgery on March 29, 2010. I started at 313lbs and am currently 196lbs!! I hope we can all keep in touch! Its great to chat with people in my general area! Dawn
  6. Thanks Girls! Anyone who might have some pointers, I would welcome any and all!
  7. Hello All! I am 10 months out and have been doing really well. However I am stuck in a rut and can't seem to find my way out! I am hoping that some of you with experience might be able to tell me why I have stayed exactly the same weight for over a month now. I'm not complaining because I am thrilled with the number I see on the scale, but really would like to be down to my goal sooner than later. I know we experience this every once in a while but wonder if you all have had these stalls this soon after surgery. I thought that the weight would continue to come off for at least a year. I am working out like crazy, have changed up my routine, but am not sure what else I can do. So, if you have ideas as to what has caused this stall or might have some great advice to get my losing again I would surely appreciate it! Thank you all so much!
  8. Carolanne your post will help me get my rear end out of bed in the morning and head to the gym! Thank you for making me smile, to me, its little comments like yours that help me the most! Keep plugging along, you will find that it gets easier every day. You will have one "wow" moment after another! All the best!
  9. Isn't it amazing to look at yourself in the mirror and see a skinny person! You are skinny!!! Yay for you!
  10. After many weeks of seeing the same number on that damn scale, today I stepped on and Ta-Da, my number was 199!!!! I have finally made it below that 200 mark. I don't even remember the last time I weighed less than 200. Middle school maybe? Total loss to date is 114lbs! I am two months short of my one year anniversary, but it has been an incredible journey so far. I am still having to remind myself several times daily that I cannot eat the same things as I used to. I find myself popping a chocolate here and there. I struggle to break my bad habits. On the up side, I am wearing size 14 clothes, (down from a 26). My kids are so proud, I walked my first road race and came in 8th place (for the walkers), and I can actually run on the treadmill! Thank you for letting me share my little victory! I love this forum and appreciate all the support you give! Happy New Year all!
  11. ... that so far this whole experience is unbelievable! I went to Gap today and just pulled things off the racks. Everything I tried on fit! Just wondering if its too good to be true! I have never ever been this comfortable with myself. Does it get harder? Waiting for the other shoe to drop! So happy so far!
  12. WOW! Just beautiful! Best wishes!
  13. Hello! Sorry it has taken so long to get back with you. My surgery went well. Today is my first day back to work and I am hanging in there. Have some issue with nausea, some days hard to get the fluid and protein in, but trying my hardest. I am so glad that you are doing so well and look forward to hearing more about your journey. :)

  14. Hi Cassy! I haven't checked my profile in quite a few weeks and just noticed that you commented to me. So sorry that it has taken this long to get back to you. I wish I could have been more helpful to you before your surgery. I really appreciate your kind words though! Made my night! :) So! How did your surgery go? Where are you at right now? How are you feeling? I hope you are doing well, it gets better every day. Some are harder than others but I am doing well and SO happy that I made the choice to do this. Please keep me posted! I look forward to hearing from you soon. :) Dawn

  15. ... shopping at the Gap yesterday for fall clothing. I honestly haven't been able to shop there since 9th grade. That in itself was a Wow moment for me, but it got better . When checking out, the cashier held up a new style sweater that I was about to purchase. "This is adorable, I haven't seen it yet. Are you sure it's going to fit you? It's and extra large you know. Honestly, if I were you, I would try on a large." Seriously?? Its amazing to me that people see me as a size large! Wow!!
