18 months out and preggers!~
Wasnt planned by any means. we didnt want another one. Took a test today came back fast with a positive. Waiting to get in to the dr for a confirmation. This will be baby number 3 but first after RNY. My oldest is 9 and my other is 5.
DH is worried to death that the baby will be malformed due to my surgery. I need some more clinical studies or something to help him realize it wont happen that way unless i seriously mess up my vitamins. Can anyone help me out?
Im still not sure if I am happy/excited or not.

Congrats! We have quite a few post op babies around here....my Emily included. I think I was about 18 months out when I got pregnant with her....and here I am 4 years out now and pregnant again. I don't take many vitamins as it's been determined I don't absorb them at all. Baby will be fine.

Congrats on the baby. I had a very healthy little girl that just turned one after GBS. Bring him to the site & show him all the pics of the babies that are healthy and happy that are on here. Let him read the pregnancy section that may put him more at ease.

Hey Amity! I am 19 months out and am 9 weeks pregnant. My doctor has done a ton of research and am currently waiting for my labs to get back. They did a full metabolic panel. I have a feeling I am anemic, but he said that is completly controlable. I actually am not taking my bariatric vitamins right now, and am just taking a prenatal. He worries about the amount of vitamin A in my bariatric vitamin. My doctor also told me...not to worry about the vitamins so much because the baby is going to take everything it needs first. I am going to be the one who has the deficiency. So the baby will get its nutrients, I just need to make sure I take the right amounts of vitamins.
Congrats!

Hi Amity, and congrats on the baby.
There's a few of us preggers right now, me included. As long as you're taking your vitamins, and keeping up with your blood work, I don't think you need to be overly concerned.
Think about how your health is better now than that you've lost so much weight. I'm sure you also eat much healthier than you did before as well.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. I have my first OB appt tomorrow morning at 830 am. This will be hopefully to date the pregnancy. I can feel that my uterus is larger but i honestly have no clue as to how far along I could be. I dont really remember for sure if Aunt Flo visited in October or even in September so theres no telling how far along I am honestly. I also have an appt wednesday afternoon with my bariatric surgeon to see what he recommends. I have a feeling he is going to order massive bloodwork. I think I will feel better if I can get some bloodwork done just to make sure I am not deficient in anything currently.
DH and I are thinking we might be due early July or mid to late June. with my history of 4 abdominal surgeries and 2 prior csections, I know I will be having another section with this one.

Became pregnant very soon after WLS
By the grace of God, I delivered a healthy baby girl. I had an uneventful pregnancy. Natural delivery without any complications. I became pregnant just months after surgery. (Save the flaming, it wasn't in our plans, but my God had another plan.) Furthermore, I had a great OBGYN who was familiar with WLS patients and pregnancy. I took regular prenatal vitamins. All doctors told me that loosing weight and overall improved health, was a direct result of a healthy baby. (I'd already lost about 75 pounds and was off all meds associated with my obesity, shortly after WLS and becoming pregnant.) After 17 years, hubby and I were never able to conceive. So, to say the least, we were ecstatic! I'm now six years out from weight loss surgery and maintaining a total loss of 144 pounds, and my daughter is five years old. What a wonderful blessing! Be happy. Children are gifts and not everyone has the opportunity of having such experience. I also had to eat more small meals a day. Doctors were adamant about the baby taking what it needs for nourishment. Again Congrats! In addition, if you dump, there’s a sugary substance in which you will have to drink, I believe to test your glucose levels. (It wasn’t an issue for me, because I don’t dump. But someone women have expressed extreme sickness after this test commonly used for pregnant women.) See me and my BFF below!
