saw a specialist today
I had an appointment with a maternal-fetal medicine specialist regarding my critically low iron levels. He said basically there's not much they can do. I was anemic to begin with and he said it looks like I have pregnancy induced anemia as well, so it's a double whammy. I have to call my regular OB tomorrow to find out what they discussed, but he's pretty sure I'm going to need a transfusion prior to delivery and is making plans to send me to a hematologist.
The best part of it was, I got a REALLY long in depth ultrasound. Behold....pictures....

Wow that kind of sucks but you have to do what's best for you and the baby. So do they say how big he is? I know they tell you sometimes.

Oh yeah have you had them check your coper levels? I know this was a big issue for Rain. I think low coper can go hand in hand with low iron. Maybe they are treating you for the wrong thing. Just a thought.

I didn't think about the copper, but if they send me to the blood guy, I'll mention it.
They said he was 3 pounds even right now. Personally I don't put much stock in estimated weights via ultrasound, but if he continues to gain 1/2 pound a week until delivery, he'll be between 7-8 pounds. I'm going to guess and say he'll be 8.5. I've had an 8.2, 8.3, and an 8.4, it stands to reason that he will need to be 8.5 to get in line with the others.

Hey congratulations on the Peanut (with peanuts)...a little boy. That's marvelous. The ultrasound pics are so clear. Its amazing what they do nowadays so you can meet your baby before the delivery. Good luck with the anemia - can you stomach liver? It might help, but I'm sure you will be followed closely by your OB/GYN. Thanks for putting a little "life" into my day!

Well if you have them in that order that is really kind of cool, but if that's just their weights in no order he can be 8.1.

The only order difference is that my first was the 8.3 and the second was the 8.2. Emily was my biggest at 8lbs 3.9oz, but we rounded up and just say 8.4 for her.
