Default Pics of my new something!!!!

Hey everyone, I had an ultrasound today and boy am I ever confused. According to me and my last period, I should be 8 weeks and 2 days. The ultrasound shows that I am 6 weeks 5 days, which puts me getting pregnant when I should have been getting ready to start.

Did any one measure smaller than what they should have been? Did the baby catch up? Was it because of the bypass or are our calculations off and for some reason we ovulated way late?

yea just measuring smaller has me concerned. Not sure if I should go triple my vitamins and eat everything in the kitchen I can find just to get this little "Sonic" (my grandsons name for the baby) to kick it in high gear and grow a little faster. The heart rate was 158 and sounded good. I need to investigate some more but I thought if I was only 6 weeks the heart rate would have been slower.

Did you have a normal cycle? If not, then I wouldn't worry. With my youngest, my doctor told me for the longest time my due date was on a specific date and I knew it was completely impossible for me to have conceived when she said I did. Now, my little one is a very healthy 3 year old.

yea normal for me, I had been going every 28 days for about 6 months. Who knows I am always a weird one. But with the new due date of Feb 18, 2010. It actually puts me exactly 9 months 39 1/2 weeks from when I should have gotten pregnant on or around May 17th. When I got pregnant with my son, I knew I got pregnant on August 1st or 2nd and my son was Born May 1st. Now my daughter, I dont know because we were young and newly married and just doing it like rabbits.

So who knows only God, but I still worry that I am not eating enough or something.

first congrats!!! I must of missed another thread with the announcement?? if there was one

secondly - I would not worry about Sonics size just yet- 6 weeks is early on and babys will gain at different rates anyway.... now just eat normally and keep up with exercising and all will go smoothly...

Yea there was a little announcement but not in the pregnancy thread, I just asked if anyone remembered me. My dates sound more right on, as the heartbeat is at 158 and that is more of a 8 week pregnancy. At 6 weeks heart beat is around 90 and gains about 3.3 beats per day thereafter until week 9. Here it is...

How accurate is the due date with an ultrasound?

Not as accurate as you may think! It depends on at what point during the pregnancy the ultrasound is taken.

5 - 7 weeks: Measurement of the sac at five to seven weeks gives an accuracy of plus or minus ten days.

7 - 14 weeks: Measuring the crown-rump length gives an accuracy of plus or minus three days at seven weeks

14 - 26 weeks: the measurement of the biparietal diameter of the baby's head, the femur length, and the head and abdominal circumference is used; the accuracy is plus or minus seven to ten days.

26 - 40 weeks: Later in pregnancy, the accuracy declines, and may be plus or minus twenty-one days.

Science and doctors can only speculate so much, so I wouldn't worry to much about it. I would just eat normally and like others posted, keep active and you'll be fine!

My doctor kept telling me I was going to have a 7 pound baby, well I had a 10 pound baby right on my due date... so if he was off by 3 pounds, maybe your doc is off by a week or so!

Congratulations and take care of yourself, most importantly, just enjoy!!!
