Gained too much weight 6 months in.
So I went to my OB yesterday, and I have gained a total of 22lbs over the 6 months I have been pregnant. According to me and my OB, way too much weight!!! (9 of those lbs were in the last 5 weeks) I have to be honest with myself and my OB and put it out there that I have just ate everything I wanted and not watched a single thing. I can eat way more then I could one yr after surgery. I can almost gaurentee I have stretched my pouch. So I have told myself that I am going back to basics. I had 2 egg whites with a whole wheat tortilla this morning, an orange for snack, whole wheat pasta with eggplant for lunch (no oil at all I made the eggplant with chicken stock), chicken cutlet with salad for dinner. I did cheat with two cookies today, but aside from that I think I did well. Dr. told me to go back to the gym, get on the treadmill, but what she doesn't realize is that after working 9 hours and possibly going to bed late the night before due to having to pick up and drop my fiance to work, I just am soooo tired I want to sleep! I feel like the first three months of pregnancy, where I had to take a nap every day after work because I just couldn't keep my eyes open any more. Another problem is, I don't have many friends. Not that I don't mesh well with girls, or women I guess, but it's the fact that my best friend and most of my female friends live over an hour away in south Jersey. Going to the gym and walking alone sucks! Any way, I just wanted to see how every one else on here did with their weight while prego and how you did dropping it after.
Also, I want to breastfeed, but I am hypothyroid. I have read soooo many articles that I will most likely not be able to produce enough milk. When I asked my Dr. about it, she said that I would probably have to through out my milk for 4 hours after I take my medication so I wont pass any medication to the baby. Is there any one else on here who is taking thyroid meds? I feel like I have no answers to any of this.
As always guys, thank you for all your help! Some times, all the comments and people on here mean more then the immediate people aroung you! You have all lived through it, while every one else has watched.

I wasn't preggo after my surgery, but my advice for excersising is get you an ipod/mp3 player. When you are on that treadmill put on your favorite songs and just walk. I use to workout with friends but I realized when they quit...I quit. Now I depend on me. I kick my own but to get out there and do it. When it comes down to it....my weight gain falls on my shoulders. No one esles.
30 minutes a day on the treadmill....go home, grab a shower and take that nap.
You can do it!

I think your doctor is ignorant about taking meds for hypothyroidism and not being able to nurse. That's ridiculous. You are taking meds to supplement something NATURALLY already IN your body.
When I nursed my daughter years ago I was on Synthroid. My milk was plentiful.
Call the LaLeche League and talk to them. They know their stuff, and I volunteered with them a long time ago...finding them to be the most knowledgeable people when it comes to breastfeeding.
Can't address your other issues...but good luck.

I don't take meds but I wasnt able to BF it was a major blow to me because I really wanted to. They say that's the best way to bond with your baby. I went to a lac nurse several times took the heribal meds pumped did everything they said I just didnt get milk, so I had to swollow my pride and bottle feed, and my little lady is great. She and I still bonded just as well as someone that bf their little one. So if you can't bf don't beat yourself up it happens from time to time.
As far as weight gain I once gained 5 lbs in 1 month but I realized it was the candy I was eating I stopped eating and lost the 5 lbs the next month. I think if you can keep up they healthy eating you will be fine. I gained 23 lbs total. Good luck to you and your little one. What are you having??? Any names picked out??

As far as breastfeeding goes, kellymom.com is a great site. I wasn't able to breastfeed either, and by the time we found out why, it was too late. I'm hoping to work with my OB this time before the baby is born to see what can be done.

What was the issue for you? (if you don't mind telling me). I just didn't produce more then 1-2oz a day. IF we decide to have another one I will try again.
Oh by the way I think this little one will be a BOY!!

It started out that Emily had a very small tongue tie. We didn't notice it in the hospital so by the time we got home, her latch was already wrong. Then, because my iron was hideously low, that inhibited milk production. I took fenugreek and blessed thistle, I ate oatmeal like it was going out of style. I considered having a beer. I started seeing a lactation consultant when she was 4 days old, but we'd already begun supplimenting by then. I didn't have a good enough pump, and could never get more than enough to barely coat the bottom of the bottle.
However, I wasn't able to nurse with either Tamberly or Michael, so what little I did get to do with Emily was a blessing.
ETA : I think it's a boy too, but we're not finding out.

I tried fenugreek also, and saw a lac nurse in the hospital. I did get a little milk so what I did get she got for about a week, so I figure that was better then nothing.
