Default Due date BUMPED! 3 weeks.../panic!

So my doc has decided that a c-section will be a very very bad idea because of the excess skin on the pannus. I have actually lost weight in that area cause I have carried so high the entire pregnancy.

So a c section scar under all that excess skin and the fact that I still have about 70 lbs to lose she wants to avoid the big C. The advantage to a C would of course be the possibility of a hernia and thus easier approval for plastics.

The bad side of that would be that it would be a healing nightmare and I might not be able to pick up the baby for like 2 months. NO BUENO!

The body is measuring right for 35 weeks but the head and the shoulders are measuring much bigger, like a 37 week pregnancy. Doc just doesnt wanna take the risk of having to go C.

So after the 15th of March I can pretty much just pick a date and tell the doc. She said, pick a day, and we have a baby!

Cool but scary!

And I'm the opposite. I'm thinking I'm going to end up with a C....here's why :

My son was a planned C (transverse breech positioning). I had no problems with the surgery or healing afterwards. The bad part comes now...11 and a half years later. See, I requested a copy of my medical records back in January 2006. They sent them to me, but didn't tell me that it was only from 1999 to 2006. Everything before 99 (a few random papers from 96-99 were there too but not many) is in records archival in St. Louis.

Everything regarding my son's birth (born in 1996) is in archives. In order to get those records, I have to send in a signed request form by snail mail, they refuse to accept a fax. Then they'll go through what they have and confirm that what I want is archived (I know it is idiots!). Then they send me a letter with another form that I then have to send to St. Louis so that what I want can be pulled from archives and sent to me. Basically, I can have the records detailing my c-section in 2 or 3 months.

News flash people! Emily will be here in 2 or 3 WEEKS!! The hospital where I'm to deliver is nervous about letting me do a VBAC without those records. And they want money up front in order to schedule another C-section. Since I don't have a few thousand dollars lying around, I have no choice but to go into labor (god I hope that happens on it's own, because they won't induce me...too risky), and from there, the on call OB will decide what to do.

But, sorry to hi-jack...guess it looks like yours might be here before mine

I've been in Canada since August. With the exception of a few hours in early Feb, I haven't left. Still waiting to find out if immigration will approve the extension of our visitor permits so I'll know if my California trip for May is still on.

Ahhh. May. I was thinking that it was March that you were going to be home. Why are they so not willing to induce you? We asked and my Doc said absolutely.

I would think that they would want to do what is safest for you.

When you've had a previous c-section and want to go for a VBAC, there's a higher chance of uterine rupture when using medications to induce labor. In my case, since we don't have my records, we don't know what kind of incision I have on the inside. The low transverse scar I have on the outside doesn't always necessarily line up with the cutting they did on the inside. If they cut the inside the same, I'm good to go for a vaginal birth. If they did a vertical or a T incision, then it's a bad idea. It also depends on the amount of sutures they placed. If they only did one internal layer of sutures, it's risky...2 or more and I'm good.

Of course, if WE HAD MY RECORDS (*#^@($&%^ military) we would know what kind of incision and sutures I had.....

Default Relax!

My doctor said that both of my boys were supposed to 10.5 lbs. That scared the bejesus out of me!!! My oldest was 8 lbs 4.5 ozs. My youngest was 8 lbs 3 ozs. Still big, but sure not 10.5 lbs!!!

Good luck!

This is why I take no stock in what a doctor says when they "guess" the baby's weight, because that's all it really is, it's an educated guess.
