Default So I did the glucose test

My OB/Gyn was insistant despite my GBS status. I've been so worn down with so much going on that I didn't really have the energy to fight for an alternative.

It wasn't hard to get down, kinda like thick kool-aid. However, the pain about 40 mins in was excruciatingly annoying. It felt like someone was hitting me across the diaphraghm with a baseball bat.

The baby was either really excited, or really upset. Hard to tell but he was extremely active in that hour. More so than ever before I think.

Overall, other than the obvious dump that I had I got through it with minimal drama. (which those of you that know me know that in itself is an amazing feat!)

We shall see what the test results say!

I can't believe they made you drink that stuff anyways. I hope the numbers aren't affected because of it.

I hope that the results come out good. Sorry about the dump that you had to go thru. Hey do you have a name for the baby yet?

We are leaning toward Brandon. Although Dave is holding out that I will change my mind and go with William David Christy V. How bout no!

It's a very touchy subject atm. We were dead set on Brandon till his dad got involved. Not happy about that but I just roll with it!

On the pregnancy board I post on, one woman's in laws gave them a very large check for the baby and "strongly suggested" that they name the child after the husband's sister that they don't even get along with.

Sometimes parents and family members just don't get it. It's not their child, they're not going through the labor and all the fun that comes with being pregnant. If you guys like Brandon, by all means go with Brandon. His dad isn't the one raising the child.

Oohh Tammy I feel ya my TT sista..... I took my Glucose test last Friday morning even though I told my doc the same about the bypass but he assured me that it was a very needed test because of what gestation diabetes does to both you and the baby and if you have it they need to get you on medication before it gets bad.....so I opted to suffer and go through it cause lawd knows I need no more things going on but when I did it it was not the dumping feeling I got it was kinda like the opposite I felt weird almost like I was going to pass out from being with low sugar it was weird but went away after about 20 minutes or so and he also informed me that the baby would be playing soccer inside there because of the sugar rush and he was!!! I hope your tests come back good, mine were right where they were suposed to be so that put a little more ease on my mind and I am glad that is over with.

That's just it you two....you can still have the test without the sugar drink. I know other bypass patients have had the test without drinking the stuff. I'm not having the test, but if I was, I'd be putting my foot down and having a balanced meal before the blood draw rather than that drink.

I dont understand what you could possibly take that they can test your sugar by not giving you something very sweet because they still draw your blood after it sits in your system for exactly an hour and it is not that I had to fast and not eat before the test it is just once you drink the stuff you can not drink ANYTHING until after they draw your blood. Do you know what they did instead of the drink?
