Default Questions 22 weeks HELP!!!

Hi all,

I haven't posted in a long time but given my surgery, this is the best place I know to go with these questions. This is my first baby, a boy, due May 17th. I am 25 and just about 2 years post op from my RNY. I know the pouch can stretch over time and so far weight wise I think I am doing ok 209 was the start and I am ranging from 224-229 depending on the water weight at the moment.

Very recently I find myself hungry a lot and I mean HUNGRY. I don't gorge and I am not getting sick but I am wanting to eat quite a bit more than I am used to. Is this normal? Anyone else have this problem? I am not even sure it's a problem. I am such a picky eater and I have had the weirdest food moods. One day I want sweets (after surgery too much sugar just kills me) I never eat chocolate, not a fan but gosh I want it with my pregnancy. There's that part and some other weird cravings for me Carmel flavored coffee. I have spent more on Starbucks in the past month than I have the rest of my life. Not going crazy on it at all but I love it for some crazy reason. Then there is the whole food thing, fast food thankfully makes me ill because of all the grease but the french fries and the Arby's Chicken Parmesean toasted sub don't and I have loved them! I totally cut back but I am just soooooooo paranoid. I am absolutly terrified to gain more weight and I still eat good foods minus the side notes above. Anyone else have this feeling?

We weren't planning on the pregnancy and I was so freaked because I was almost under 200 then this. I love being pregnant and can't wait but the weight thought is still looming like a cloud in the back of my mind. No one can understand the feeling I have so I am really looking for any advice here.

Courtney,

I believe all your feelings are perfectly normal. I know some others will jump in and respond as I know the two other woman on here are pregnant and are close to you in weeks of pregnancy. I had my son 6 months ago now. But I can remember having those same feelings, the first 5 months were hard, I was afraid to eat to gain to much weight and I really wan't all that hungry. My family was so concerned that I wasn't gaining enough weight, I know my husband thought for sure there would be something wrong with the baby as he didn't feel I was getting enough nutrition but once I hit that 5 month period, WOOHOOOOO All of a sudden I could eat. I felt "normal" for once in my life. My appetite had increased greatly, I can remember being so proud that I could eat a whole taco and one whole hamburger. My sugar intake had also increased during my pregnancy. Your body knows what it is doing just make smart choices. I gained a total of about 35lbs my whole pregnancy even though I felt like I gained alot more because those last 4 months I was always hungry. I felt like such a pig all the time. I just made sure I ate smart and made the best choices for myself and the baby. I lost all my weight within the first 2 months. Now myself and husband which I was still pregnant so I could go back to eating so good, because my body went right back to before pregnancy and I can only eat 1/2 hamburger now. I miss those days of food

If you need to talk you can PM anytime. I remember being so scared during my pregnancy and thankfully I had Denise on here who helped me along the way. If you need anything just PM.

Good Luck! and Congrats

Renee
