Baby shower questions..
If you remember my new daughter in law is expecting... it's a girl! Her name will be Winter Elizabeth...
I'm planning a baby shower and it's been years... seriously like 10 years since I've done one of these things. I've only been to one in the past 5 years. My kids are older so while people my age are still having kids...sometimes... most of my peer group is well past that stage.
Any great ideas out there? Cute invitation ideas, party games... food that you tried that was themed?
Look forward to the creativity of the memebers on this board!

Our first grandchild was welcommed to the world with three baby showers... Not much has changed since "our days" --- still food, few games, funny prizes, and gifts, of course! Our daughter is expecting in July - so there'll be a new round of baby showers happening again --- I'm sure there are "theme" ideas out there if you do a GOOGLE search (vs. TT Search, see other thread)... LOL!
Congrat Grandma! Love the name "Winter!"

I LOVE the name! One thing I would NOT suggest- food that has a color theme. This was a while ago, but one of my sister's friends was expecting a boy, so everyone was told to bring blue food. Let your imagination run riot- then reach for the Pepto...

Google I can do.....
and I've found a few great sites so far. The invites are so cute these days! I've been using evite for a lot of stuff lately but I'm going with printed this time, it just to cute to pass up.
Of course after spending a whopping 12K, yes I know that's a bargain, on the wedding my budget is feelign the pinch. That and the 17 outfits I bought in the last two weeks...lol
BTW... I'm not using Grandma or any variation of that.... it's Yia Yia all the way. I'm much to young to be a grandma!....roflmao

Party City
It's the best place to go for invitation's and decorates. It's pretty cheap there also. You can get everything there. Games the ones we just did was take the yarn and guess how big the mother is (a must) fun to see what people think. baby food-they have to guess what the baby food is. you can take rice and put it in a bowl with little safetypins, and then blindfold the person and they have to try and get as many safetypins as they can in a certain amount of time. It's harder than it sounds. If you are doing co-ed make all the guys diaper a doll blindfolded (it's really funny) fastest guy wins (of course the diaper has to be on right). Scarmble up baby words and people have to guess the words, make a tray with a bunch of different things for the baby on there (bottle, bib, spoon, brush, etc lots of little stuff works best) take it around the room quick and whoever gets the most stuff right wins and the mom get's to keep the goodies on the tray. Give everyone a clothes pin (you can get pink or blue ones at party city) and if anyone says the word baby someone else can still there pin, and the person who has the most at the end wins. Geee....... think I've thrown a few showers. Oh yeah finger foods work best. If I think of anything else I will let ya know.

I hosted a baby shower last year for a friend of mine, a game that went over really well was to give out a roll of toilet paper and guess how many sheets it would take to wrap around the mommy's big tummy. Then actually measure and winner gets a small prize.

Hello Paige, my mom had to plan 7 baby showers and most of them were co-ed, it's acutally pretty fun. The last time we bought a bunch of cheap baby bottles and filled them up with juice, first person to finsh got a prize. It was so fun, the men get really competitive, some even bit off the nipple to get the drink down. We also played the little safety pins in the rice, like Jeanie said, its not as easy as it looks and its very fun.
