Trouble
Did anyone have trouble getting preg after the surgery? I am over a year pos op and have taken fertility meds and NOTHING!!!! I am still not ovulating. Makes me crazy! That is one of the reasons I decided to have GB is so many docs told me that I couldn't get preg becuase I needed to loose weight!

Hormonally, your body is probably still adjusting. My doctor told my wife and I that after the surgery, you should wait 18 months to two years. My wife opted not to have the surgery now so that we could start trying for another baby in a year or so. (Once our first born is old enough to get us things out of the refrigerator and pick up her own messes!)
The next part may be TMI, proceed with caution:
We went through all of this fertility stuff for several years until, through drug therapy, my wife's period regulated, we started Clomid therapy, and another injectable drug, I was taking a medicine to keep the fat cells from turning testoterone into estrogen in order to raise the sperm counts, and then at the moment we didn't think we could take it anymore, she got pregnant. You can see the little Loin Fruit on our homepage.
You should talk to your doctor, and if you haven't already, see if you can see a fertility specialist. There are some tests you and your husband will both have to have done...he will probably have to go to the urologist.
We have no shame left, but we do have the baby, so it was worth every poke and prod!
Good Luck!
-Mike

After a year and a half out, I got pregnant without any problems. I too was told that I wouldn't be able to conceive at the weight I was. Give it some time, let your body adjust and if it doesn't happen in 6 months, see a specialist. You would be surprised at the number of normal people who just can't get pregnant for one reason or another.

I was over three hundred pounds when I got prgenant for my second one. I topped out the scales at the Office. But I had alot of complications and premature baby born. She was born three weeks early and the umbilcal cord and the placenta were seperating from eachother. She is truly a miracle baby. ( I look her today and I thank God for such a beautiful little girl who has blessed my heart) Be patient the time will come when its right. You seem like you'll make a wonderful mom. Can't wait to hear the news. (By the way complications happen to healthy young skinny people too.)

Keeping my fingers crossed on the ovulation. Hopefully, it will just happen for you. I decided against children because I was always told I wouldn't be able to conceive at my weight. Now that I have had the surgery and have started losing weight, by the time I'm out a year I'll be too old.

What?!?!?!? You look young..... I know after the strugles with wls you don't feel so young anymore! I know waiting a year after surgery was hard! It is kind of funny how we have been told that we won't get preg being overweight and my sister-in-law who is larger than I at my biggest got preg on "accident" and I can't even when I try! Well I may be able I shouldn't say I can't I will just say I haven't in 6 years!

Dawn, you are 37. You are DEFINITELY NOT too old! I am 37 and will be 38 in February. My doc said to wait 18 months. 18 months will be June. I plan on stopped my birth control in April or May. If I do get pregnant a little before 18 months, no big deal. Plenty of others have done it. If I get preggers in June, it would be born in March after I turn 39 in February. I'm not worried and my surgeon and PCP both say there is nothing to worry about. Anyway, sorry for the ramble. I can't wait until June!
