Actually, both my little sister and I were born with milk allergies and had to be moved to soy, and this was in the early 1960s... translated into horrendous lactose intolerance later in life. Was not in any way damaging to our intellect or growth (all the women in my family are short...

). Also was NOT an indicator that we would be obese, as it was 50-50--my sister's never struggled with her weight, and I have ever since I hit puberty.
So, I'm here to tell you that getting him off milk-based proteins won't hurt him at all.
