Hi Misty thanks for your interest. At first I felt winded, subdued and very disappointed. On one hand gutted, but on the other had they not realised the blood thinning drug I was still taking I could have found myself in much more serious trouble. So everything is for a reason. I felt I'd bounded with the October Staplers and that I wouldn't be having my surgery along with this group of losers was very sad. However, I'm determined to stay positive so I've just thought about the things I can still do to help myself and to continue preparing for being post-op. seems the best thing for me. I'm always thinking of something else I can do. I've even brewed up a massive pot of vegetable broth and put it into my mums freezer - i'll just add some meats to small portions as I go along to increase the protein.

As you can see I've got me two new cook books. interesting...

I'm sitting her typing this and just off to my right sits my bag packed and good to go.

I'm trying Mistymee, I'm trying. lol

I feel pretty underprepared after looking at your list of supplies you have purchased.... I have purchased next to nothing. I am in the process of preparing by cooking my families meals and freezing them. I have started packing my suitcase with:

1. Bathrobe
2. lip balm
3. nightgown & super large pajama pants for the drive home
4. socks
5. my own pillows
6. phone
7. toothbrush/tooth paste
8. brush
9. meds ( lexapro & Protonix)
10. Vitamins

That is it- any advice on what I am missing?

I have purchased for at home following surgery- lots of muscle milk light and that is about it. I just refilled my perscriptions, made a huge packet of info for my husband and kids in case anything goes wrong. Other than that I am just going to fly by the seat of my pants... I really am hoping to only take one week off work- I have a sit down job, my husband can drive me to work. I know I wont' feel "good" but I am hoping to go back after a week

I think you're good to go really. You might find some use for baby wipes, dont forget your towel. Most of the stuff i've bought are for preparing my post-op meals, and a few things that I know I'll start off eating at home once i'm allowed to actually eat things like jelly, broth etc. I've bought things especially for me, not my family, things that I might have a tendency to miss, tea/coffee decaf; and things that I can use to vary my protein drinks/shakes. Also, we have to get use ot eating small bites, so i've gone for smaller cutlery, so that I dont overload my spoons or fork with food on each bite. If you're in the USA you might find it easier to access some of the wls products, I've had to think ahead to save having to shop around far and wide after WLS, that's when I might not be in the mood.

Good luck though.

You know, I did use a lot of baby wipes, myself. But we had a lot left from pre-potty-training-of-young-child.

Well I'll be taking a packet of wipes from my grand daughters stash. I've a small packet of femfresh wipes, but i'm worried about not been able to have a shower in the early stage after surgery. I've already told my 'other half', if i'm unable to help myself, he'd better make sure he comes and gives me a good bed bath. lol, I'm not joking either.
