I am ashamed to say I had a last supper. My in laws had promised my husband a trip to Texas De Brazil for his birthday. (For those that don't know it's an amazingly good all you can eat meat parade with the most incredible salad bar you have ever seen)
So we went, I was on an Atkin's diet pre-op so while I stuck to the no carb thing I ate WAY more than 4oz of meat that night lol.
I think what everyone is saying is true though. There is just no need for it. In time you will be able to eat just about anything and everything in moderation. Ultimately that is what this surgery is about.

I'm actually the sweet one. Cassie's the evil bitch.
Speaking of evil bitch, my best friend came over yesterday and brought a 2 liter of Dr Pepper, a pack of cheese crackers, Snickers Ice Cream bars, and stuffed cream cheese peppers in oil.
Then she got mad when I wouldn't eat it with her. Even at my worst I didn't eat like that, so why would I do it 4 days pre-op? Sometimes I genuinely wonder why people that love us so much aren't more in tuned with our feelings.
She said "I spent 20 bucks on this stuff cause I LOVE you and I want you to have fun before surgery!"
I said, "If I were going to rehab on Monday, would you be bringing me drugs now for one last shebang? No? Then why are you bringing me junkfood 4 days before gastric bypass?"
I know she loves me, but, c'mon, she knows I don't eat that stuff. I love those stuffed peppers and haven't eaten them with her in over a year. *shakes head* She just sat there pigging out while I sipped my water and ate a couple bites of pineapple.

Yeah, I didn't pig out before surgery either. I had my last SB frappe, my last Cherry Pepsi, in the couple of weeks before but even though I had met the pre-op goal, my surgeon said losing pounds right before surgery was more beneficial than losing say 10lbs over a month for the liver so encouraged me to lose more before the surgery. He also said that when people have a Last Supper that the grease from the food is secreted from the colon so it is like handling a greasy sausage. I figured if I was doing this for my health, why the heck would I increase my risk of complications just to pig out one last time?

Smorgasbord before your surgery....probably not, but healthy moderation, sure.
I delayed my Lap RNY date for 2 months as "Life Happens" and my preferred surgeon was booked a month out.
Some things I did which some may disagree with:
restaurants ... sushi buffet, brazilian steak buffet, italian brunch buffet, and even Old Country Buffet
drinks ... general alcohol with business partners, family, friends, then the college buddies (yes they are in a different group). Even abused diet coke until about 1 week before my surgery, drinking 3 - 4 cans a day knowing that I'll be stopping.
getaways ... week in Chicago and extended weekend in Wisconsin Dells to enjoy local activities and food
At the end of my 2 months of enjoying the summer, I lost 5 lbs. Mentally, I've focused on healthier choices with slightly smaller portions with some over indulgences, but not every meal.
Since surgery, I've accepted my decison, i.e. following DR's orders in respect to food, drinks, and vitamins. I tried a tiny sip of diet coke today and it was nasty, so I'll never have to worry about soda again.
Since I read our taste buds could change, I'm very glad I enjoyed some special times before my surgery. This is probably not the best approach for everyone, but it worked for me.

DEFINITELY have your favorite meal before the liquid diet begins and have your favorites once(or so) in the month or months before surgery but as others said, do it in moderation. If you LOVE Chinese buffet, YES by all means do it up ONCE. But the day before, of and after eat light. Hopefully you will NEVER eat a buffet the same way again!!

Hey, my sister had LB and she said raw carrots are the one raw vegetable she CAN get down easily. Bizarre. What do you mean? It makes you sick to your stomach or it hurts?
