OK, so I am now in the process of waiting for insurance approval for the lap-band. I have been looking for to this all day long. I got about 6 min. into and had to stop watching, I was afraid it was going to make me chicken out (LOL)
SO I called my sister-in-law and she is watching it for me, I don't know what good that is going to do me, but I was scared to watch.

I'm watching this now...I just watched them put the band in through the port and attach it around the stomach. FASCINATING!

Okay...I didn't do that on purpose though I know how it might look. My first undergrad degree was in Biology, so I'm not nearly as sensitive to such things.

The surgery was virtually bloodless, and much less invasive than the open procedure that I had. Honestly, I didn't think that I saw much more here than what they show on Big Medicine.

I don't want to spend a lot of time sugarcoating either. This is major surgery, but I think it's uplifting and inspiring to know that this is the level of modern humanity. We are not necessarily bound to what we were born to be, but rather we are a canvas upon which we can be redrawn. I found the whole thing fascinating in a philosophical way and it made me 110% confident that I made the right decision in having this surgery.

MJ...thanks for sharing the link--I think it's important for anyone going through this to know what they are facing head on.

I thought this whole procedure was just awesome to watch, and not the least bit scary.

Oh, Jenn,

I forgot to ask...where in NC are you? I'm originally from NC, outside of Charlotte!

I am in Henderson, about 3 hours NE of Charlotte (I think it is NE). Any way I do know that it is 45 min north of Raleigh, on the VA border.

I know right where you are honey!

I haven't been to Raleigh in awhile, but years ago, I drank there on the weekends! My wife and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chapel Hill, and come there shopping at least once a year. Have you ever been to the "Southern Season" store/cafe? It's awesome...it's like a Dean & Deluca but with better stuff and a nicer deli bakery. The restaurant and coffee shop are great too! It's worth a trip down!
