Question Stocking up for Post-Op

Surgery is this coming Thursday so I need to go shopping the next couple of days for post-op supplies: I keep referring to the patient handbook my surgeon gave me and referring to posts that I've saved but looking for last minute advice on what I should have on hand. I'm nervous about shopping for whey protein and vitamins. Suggestions?

Get 1 of whatever you wish to try. You will be shocked about how your tastes ans tolerances for things will change. Sugar free jello, one flavor you love today you will detest post op. Same thing with protein powders. Dont buy any right now. Wait until you are in the right stage of supplementing for that. They can be expensive, and disgusting so make sure you buy you can return if you are not satisfied. COSTCO has a guarantee. But again, only buy one can of stuff many of us have the regret of stocking up on stuff we couldnt eat, or wouldnt eat. I recommed one can of chicken broth, one can of beef broth and a variety pack of already made sugar free jello. Also, sugar pree popsicles and crystal light or propel were essential staples for me. Good luck darlin!

My sister and daughter will be staying with me for a couple of days but I'm too much of a control nut to trust they will pick up what I want. Thanks for the suggestions!

I would say stock up on Campbell’s Chicken Noodle, Chicken & Rice and Yogurt, I lived on those for 10 days. On protein, that’s hard even with all the warning not to buy a lot I still ended up with about $120 worth of protein I hate. The only protein I could do was New Whey liquid protein (fruit punch) I would add it to my yogurt. I bought a case and am glad I did, you can get them individually to try out at first. Good luck!

The first week after surgery I didn't let anything in my body without it having PROTEIN!!! I drank the GNC Isopure fruit punch that's in the bottle and my EAS Protein supplement. I changed to the GNC Isopure Dutch Chocolate supplement, but now tried the Creamy Vanilla flavor because they have very little (if any) carbs! Carbs tend to make me really hungry even post op.

I bought alot of pre-made jello and some sugar-free/fat-free pre-made puddings that I loved prior to surgery...and since surgery I have not been able to eat even ONE container!!! Not sure why...but goes to show how much tastes change.

Don't buy too much, your tastes will change and you will get tired of the same thing.

The first week or two, I lived off jello, SF Popsicles, cream soup, propel. I couldn't get down protein drinks for some time, but if I could I would have! I like the Nectar products.

I made the same mistake, stocking up on stuff that I ended up not liking, not tolerating, or getting burnt out on... You will probably need broth, sf popsicles, sf jello and isopure... then I did cream soups with no-taste protein powder added. That stage is over quickly, thankfully.

Good luck with your surgery, and don't forget your slippers so you can walk around in the corridors.
