I would like to have a lap band proceedure done when my husband's insurance from his new job kicks in. His boss said that his wife had Gastric Bypass and it was covered by the insurance there, so I am doing some research.
I know that I do not want to have a gastric bypass, because when i worked in the hospital, i saw all kinds of ppl return to the surgical ward because they had popped their staples. i do NOT want the pain i saw them going thru! with the lap band being reversable and minimally invasive, i feel more confidant going into this.
I really don't know much more about what to expect, though. I have not contacted a doctor for the proceedure, but I know that there is one in the town we are moving to this week- its the one the boss's wife used, too. I will be going in to one of their seminars after we get moved down there.
What I am after here is advice...
- What would you tell someone in my position about bariatric surgery?
- Would you do it again if you had it to do all over again?
- How have your own personal results gone?
- Which kind of surgery did you opt for?
- What made you choose that type of surgery?
- How did you choose your surgeon?
- Did your insurance cover it- or at least most of it?
- How long was your recovery time- to full recovery and being active again?
As with any major proceedure, I have lots of questions- these are just the ones that come to mind in the 3 minutes it took me to write this LOL
Thanks in advance!
