Hi Everyone:
I am new to writing in this Forum. I have read several of your encouraging and intellegant posts. I had my first visit with a surgeon today and I wanted Lap-Band surgery. My surgeon said that if your a sweet eater, that the lap-band is not as successful. Can anyone give me advice on this? I really don't want to go with Gastric Bypass. Thanks |

Hey there. Sorry don't know your name unless it really is JigglyPuff (lol).
Is there a particular reason you don't want to go with the bypass. From my experiences if you are a sweet eater (as I was) then the bypass is definitely the better way to go. With the band you can still eat as many sweets as you want as they don't take up much room in your pouch. If I had have the band I'm sure I wouldn't have done anywhere near as well as what I have so far. But of course you have to be comfortable with your choice and do what is best for you. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks Shereeks,
JiggleyPuff is just a nickname my kids call me. My name is Shawna and the next time I post I will indicate that, sorry. I guess the Bypass just really scares me, cutting the stomach, rerouting intestines. Plus in my research, the rate is high to gain back your weight with bypass vs. lap-band when you can tighted it if you are gaining. I guess the way I am looking at it as I know either surgery, I will have to change my habits and loving sweets will be one of those habits I must change. Am I looking at it wrong? I don't want to set myself up for failure. Thanks, Shawna |

HI, I didnt see your weight or height< but j/m/o .....I would definetly go with the lapband first!!! Besides that was your gut feeling anyway!! That is how my doctor did me!!! But, you just will have to learn self control either way you go!! I honestly wissh that I woould have stuckwith what I wanted and that was the lapband!!! Now, im having lots of problems not saying that you will, but please really think about it, the wieght will come off either way!!! They are both just a tool and for you to use them correctly!! Best wishes to you and your deceision!! Laura!!
ps...like she said if the band dont work then have the rny!! jmo ![]()
