Talking 2 Days till Surgery!!!

2 days to go!!! Got my desk cleaned off at work, house cleaned, lawn mowed, laundry done, and got stocked up on "after surgery" supplies. Can't believe it is finally going to happen. I have to go to an all day conference tomorrow for work. Really doubt I retain much from it, have too much other stuff to think about. I've really got nervous in the last few days. I am a nurse and am used to taking care of other people and have never actually had to stay in the hospital. Kind of freaking out about that. I know it will be fine. Thank everyone so much for sharing all your journeys with me, it has kept me positive. Looking forward to starting my own journey. I'll keep you posted................

Rachel your a nurse but you are still human and it is OK and normal to still be nervous. You'll be just fine, being educated about the procedure your having and how it works in the hospital helps a lot once your there. Helps ease your mind.

Rachel,

I am a nurse too and found it very hard to be in the hospital for this surgery, I kept wanting to know what everything was, what they were giving me etc.. not that Im saying you shouldnt ask, but I was stuck in my career mode and not in patient mode, so I worried a lot more than I actually needed to. Once I realized what I was doing, it helped me to sleep more and actually start recooperating.

Good luck,
Hope

Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone. I just finished packing for the hospital. When I leave here in the morning, I am going to a conference and then to a hotel to stay the night before surgery. My parents are driving up to spend the evening with me and have dinner ("last supper") and be there for the surgery on Wednesday. I told everyone it wasn't necessary to be rearranging schedules for me- when my husband had it all he did was sleep for the 3 days he was in. Of course, everyone wants to be supportive and be there for me and my husband. How great to have such good support! I will definitly keep you all posted when I get home and am able. Thanks again for the encouragement.----your soon to loser friend

Red face I'm home...yeah!!

Yes- I am home. Got home yesterday afternoon. It's been a little tough as far as pain goes. Mainly ,all gas pain though. IT'S HORRIBLE!!! I just can't seem to pass any gas. The surgery went well, I was doing amazing in the hospital the day after. The nurses and aides kept making comments on how well i seemed. It was kind of like a honeymoon period. Well, that ended soon after getting home. Having trouble getting comfie anywhere, and the GAS PAIN. Oh my gosh, if it would just go away, I think I'd be okay. I keep walking, taking Gas X, and sipping but nothing is helping right now. I know things will be better soon. It's nice to be home and to know there's light at the end of this long tunnel. Thanks for all the words of encouragement. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks

Red face I'm home...

I am home. Had surgery Wednesday and came home Friday afternoon. Things went pretty well in the hospital, has been a little rough at home, but glad to be here. Getting comfie has been really tough, and of course once I get comfie the GAS pains start and I have to get up. It's been a long process. I have not passed any gas to date and am REALLY MISERABLE!! I am walking, taking Gas-X, and sipping. NOthing is helping yet though. I just hope tomorrow is a better day! Thanks for all the encouragement. I'll keep you all posted as the days go by.
