Rachel, sorry I missed the original post and didn't get to send you well wishes for your surgery. I am glad everything has went well. The gas is usually just par for the course. Take it easy and get your sipping, walking, and resting in! Keep us posted.

Go Rachel!
Welcome home! It is amazing to be on the other side.
To get personal, I found that sitting on the potty for a while helped me release the gas - and doing this right after walking was best. I think part of my problem was that I was afraid it would hurt after they took out the epidural, and I couldn't "let go". So I recommend the potty!
Good luck!

Gina- Thanks for the advice. It's about 4:45 am and I'm in misery....Other than the gas everything seems really good. Glad to hear you are home and doing so great. Wow- can't believe you ventured out of the house already!! I haven't left the comforts of home yet, just go from couch to bed to recliner, of course walking in between. Want this pain over soon. Again, glad to hear you are doing well and hopefully there are not bunches of type o's in this message- don't have my glasses on. Take care and keep me posted. Congrats!!!!!

Typing issues
Don't worry about the typos. I find that typing while on pain meds is much different than typing normally. I've never been on pain meds before (except advil) so this is a wierd feeling. It is like typing in slow motion...
I really wish I could think of something else for the gas for you!! It sounds awful. Maybe PM Zen, she had some issues there. (And had us rolling on the floor with how funny she is about it, of course)
Good luck deary!
I don't know why I'm doing so well. I think my Italian grandmother sent money to the pope or something to get me such an easy time. She is way religious and prays for me, lights candles at church etc. There has to be a connection.

Okay- doing a little better today. Passing gas, even had a BM, now just trying to stay comfie and get some food in my belly. Thanks again for the support and again I am really happy to hear you are doing so great. I have a funny confession though.....my ankles and lower legs look smaller!?? I know it may be too soon to notice but even my husband asked me if I had noticed. I'm not sure if it's for real yet or not but sure gives me some happy thoughts for the time being. Keep me posted on the success.

Are you actually eating food? I'm on mostly clear liquids for 14 days - though they said I could try sugar free pudding if I got desparate. We'll see. I have to get in 80 ounces of fluid each day. It is like drinking all the time and sometimes Gertie doesn't like it.

i was advanced from Step 1 to Step 2 before I was discharged from the hospital on Friday. They made sure I could tolerate things and away I went. I am eating Jello, pudding, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, Carnation instant breakfasts, etc, and popscicles. Granted, not a ton at a time but yes I am tolerating things okay. It's strange how every doc is different. You keep following those dr orders and BE CAREFUL at the gym. I almost lost it when I saw you had planned going to the gym???? I still haven't left the house. Just take things slow, relax, and take care.

Just because I am right behind you...I was wondering what hospital items you are taking...and what post op supplies you are buying? I am not really prepared for that end of it. BON

Rachel: Cooool we're twins!!! Had mine Wed. as well and came home Friday too. I posted on the gas pains and was referred to the GasX strips. Am sipping peppermint tea. All that seems to come up are these pathetic little burps, but the farts are smaller too. I was very bloated and it is all starting to go away. I'll think of you every time I burp, LOL.
