Exclamation Anyone else?????

Okay...so I am starting to think I am doing something wrong!!! It has been 3 weeks and 3 days since my surgery and I have only lost 1 more pound since my 2 week mark!!!

Did anyone else have this slow of weight loss in the beginning??? (Except you, Tracie! I know we are in the same boat here.) I do not step on the scale everyday..maybe a few times a week. I guess I am looking at others reaching 50 pounds in 3 months or even 60 pounds in 3 months!!! Will that ever be for me????

I don't mean to be a party pooper but hopefully, someone can share with me any of their experiences with this. I walk on my treadmill AT LEAST 3 days a week right now....30 minutes each time. I am eating small portions when I eat. Sometimes I have a snack to help keep me until my next meal but I talked to Doc C about this and he said up until 3 months...that is ok to do. I am taking all my vitamins when I should. It is just a bit discouraging.

Anyone have any words for me??

Talking Anyone else?

Yes Karen, I went through the same thing. At about three weeks out I began exercising and I stopped loosing weight. It took about two and a half weeks to start loosing again. As the others told me, your body needs to catch up, so it stops doing anything for a little bit. Once you catch up, you will watch the weight fall off. I was so bummed I would cry while I exercised! This too shall pass. Just don't stop exercising. I didn't and now it is working for me. Tomorrow is another day!

Default Anyone else?

Hi Karen,

This happens to most of us and we ALL begin to wonder if we went through all this for a lousy few pounds! Your body is adjusting. Many of us find that during those times when pounds are not coming off, inches are. I lost 33 pounds in the first couple of weeks, then nothing for the next three or four weeks. But, obviously, that wasn't the end of my story because at 16 months out I've lost 152 pounds and am still slowly losing. And I'm in the slowest losing group (female, post-menopausal). So, hang in there. You're doing everything right, and the weight WILL come off. Promise!

Default Nothing to complain about Karen!

Karen!

If I am reading those numbers correctly, you have lost 44 pounds in less than one month! HELLOOOOOO???? That's a very large amount of weight to lose in one month. If you continue like this, you would lose 132 pounds in three months. Your body probably can't do that. Most people average between 20-30 pounds a month after the first month of huge water and fat loss. Thus, around 100 pounds at 6 months, more or less. You could be above average and lose the 100 pounds in less than five. That is nothing to complain about.

Take it as it comes off. Keep off the darn scale! It won't make you happy, obviously, no matter how well you do. Wait atleast until you go to Dr. Callery's office to weigh yourself. I use to only weigh myself at support meetings at office visits. Period. You are doing extraordinarily well and should be happy with your success. Believe me when I say that you will lose this weight. (That's the easy part. Keeping it off is the challenge.) We have said it a million times in this support group......everyone loses weight after this surgery at their own rate and in their own time. But, without fail, EVERYONE LOSES WEIGHT!!! EVERYONE!! No one has ever failed to lose a lot of weight.
You won't be the first.

Hang in there Karen! I'm very happy for your success!!

Hugs,

Actually Dale....you were reading the numbers wrong....I have lost 24 pounds since my surgery and lost 10 pounds the month before my surgery....so total was 34 pounds which is awesome, in it's own right...but I was still feeling discouraged because the weight seemed to stop falling off.

Well, this morning...I almost didn't step on the scale but I thought...it has been 4 days since I did and low and behold....I have lost another 4 pounds!!! My heart knew it was only a matter of time before I lost more but my HEAD is what was giving me the problem!!!

I am glad to know that other people have experienced the same kind of thing...because I DID start to think I would be the first person to fail this surgery!!! Now, I know...patience is the key and doing what is right for my body will get this weight off of me!!

Default Change your numbers at the bottom, Karen!

Ok, Karen, in any case you are doing very well. Don't ever compare yourself to anyone else. Your body is unique. All bodies are unique. The weight will come off when it is good and ready. Boom. 4 pounds here, 3 there, 2 there, 6 there. Bye bye!

By the way, change the numbers at the bottom to 313/271/forgot. Four pounds is four pounds you'll never, ever see again!

Now Karen,

Weren't you the one that was going to be in with me to break into Tracie's house in the middle of the night and steal her scale?? We talked about this... lol You big goober! I am glad you are doing good though.. Hang in there girlfriend you've already caught up to me and prolly then some. Don't weigh till we go back to the Early Support group next month.. then you will probably pee your pants with excitement. Oh wait you'll have your six week before then huh? Either way.. get off the scale dang it.. before I have to go steal yours too..

Default Christina...

...you are too funny, girl!!! Your right though...we are the ones that talked about dressing like ninja's and stealthfully stealing Tracie's scale!! <LOL>

I am doing much better these last few days though...I dumped off of making a bad food choice the other day...had 2 small rolled tacos for dinner and all the grease made me sick! Guess I won't be eating those for awhile!! <LOL>

Oh well, live and learn...trial and error!!

Can't wait to see you at the East County meeting next week!!
