Unhappy that time of the month

To any female who still has a period, I had my pre-op appointment today with Dr. Callery and Kelly and It was kind of rushed because Dr. Callery was giving an education lecture that same night. Anyways I forgot to ask if it was going to be a problem if a woman is on her period the day of surgery. I'm concerned because I know they put a catheter in you during surgery. Today is Tuesday 10/12 and my surgery is on Monday 10/18. I usually get my period around the 20th or so. Does anyone know?

Don't worry about it. I was one of the lucky ones on my period when I had my surgery. It was like the 3rd day of my cycle, but due to my irregularity, it's pretty bad when it comes. I was so paranoid about it and the nurses comforted me and told me it was not a problem and not to worry about it because I'm not the first nor the last that will encounter this issue during surgery. So, I hope that helps and best of luck to you.

Not to worry.. if you weren't having your cycle or just had your cycle prior to checking in.. you may get it anyway. Most of us do because of the blood thinners they give us. So don't worry it will be just fine. Of course it is a pain because you don't really feel like dealing with that.. but don't be suprised if you wake up from surgery to find you have started. It just figures doesn't it?? LOL
