Thanks again so much, I do have a question, I feel a little strange. Is this forum for people who are having or have had the surgery from thinner times, or is it for anyone? I notice most post came back with surgery done by Dr. Callery. I don't know who that is. I'm having my surgery done in NY. I noticed that when I made a change to my post it wasn't Eastern Standard time. I hope it doesn't matter. You all are great!

Default awwwwww Mary,

I've got goose bumps from head to toe. I went through those same thoughts - weird huh? I might just be the one that does not make it off the table. I cried every time the thought came up about not being around for my 9 and 12 year old. I put it in Gods hands, because, like you said, if it's my time, it's my time. My faith gave me the strength to be at peace.

I wish you a blessed day. You've got us for support!

Default Good Luck!

Hi Mary! I didn't have my surgery here in San Diego, I had it in Mexico, but before that I read peoples comments on this forum and I talked to many people that had done this surgery. I was scare too, I cried when my mom left me at the hospital, I thought I was never going to see her again. I had never had any type of surgerys before. But all I wanted in my head were happy positive thoughts. By reading everyones comments here I got the courage and said to myself, "if something bad happens to me during surgery or I die, at least I died doing something positive towards myself". This is what I told everyone that said ugly negative stuff to me.

Also my stepdad went to church this past Saturday & he said that they were talking about health, and mostly all of the members at church know I had this surgery cause my mom opened her mouth and spread the rumors, but any ways, someone said if the gastric bypass was something good and if God would approve something like that. The preacher which he is a doctor said it was the best way to loose weight and that we are Gods temple and we need to take care of our bodies. So any way you see it, it is the best choise GASTRIC BYPASS.

Dont let anyone tell you negative stuff, they are just jelouse your doing something good for yourself and that your going to be alot healthier than others. People on this forum are so helpful, just ask them and they answer what ever you need help in. Congratulations and wish you luck Mary!

Question Hi Mary

Welcome to our happy home of losers! Cant wait to see you on the other side... I am curious is Dr Callery or Dr Potts your surgeon?

I am a mother as well of 2 young boys 9 and 6, I never had the thought that I wasnt going to come home. I knew in my heart that this was what I needed to do and no worries about it. But I did try to get my house in order so I could relax without worry, stocked up on TV dinners to pop in the microwave for the kids... poor kids....

let me know if Dr C or Dr P is your surgeon, look forward to hearing from ya!

Thanks for the welcome. I definitely feel at home. I have been so encouraged since joining this forum. I've been reading other post and can hardly get away from the computer. :-) Bridget, I am acutally in NY and my surgery is scheduled at NYU. I don't know either of the Dr.'s you mentioned but I see that everyone is doing so well and can only gather that they must be the best. I read your post about the insurance approval for your next surgery and I too am praying that everything goes well for you.

Peace & Blessings

Veroliz78,

Thank you so much for your encouragement. Reading your post was yet another confirmation for me. I was also wondering if my decision was spiritually right. Now I am sure of it. I guess the only task now is to try and help my husand through it. He is aware of the risk and not too happy that I have decided to go ahead with the surgery anyway. I'll just have to do better at keeping him encouraged and ensuring him that everything is in God's hands. Thank you again.

Peace & Blessings

Default Mary,

I am feeling pretty great right now. I'm so close to my goal of breaking 200 I can taste it! Well, I mean lick it, wouldn't want to eat the wrong thing right now. LOL Thanks for the acknowledgement.

You know on those forms you signed.. the ones that got you thinking about the "what if" they have to list EVERY possible effect of of going through the surgery.... it would be the same type of stuff/complicatins that can be endured by having Carpal Tunnel surgery as well.. I mean dont get me wrong, comparing carpal tunnel surgeryto bypass surgery is huge by definition and procedure but anything can happen at anytime regarding any invasive procedure we need to do..... I mean there is a whole list of things that CAN happen, but for our surgeons Dr Callery and Dr potts, maybe only 5 complications resulted in the death of abut 8-9 people... and Dr C abd Dr P let us know eactly what went wrong and what WE need to do to avoid it... so stay positive and confident, like you said you have been lookin into this procedure and doing lots of homework about it, you are not going into it blind... YOU ARE DOING TO DO AWESOME!!! Please keep us posted on your recovery, or have your surgery buddy or a friend post and let us know how you are doing after surgery. We would all appreciate an update.

So you live in New York huh? Did somebody say roadtrip?! Hahaha What part of the state are you in? I recently visited Buffalo and went to Niagra Falls this summer... I am seriously considering relocating out that way... it's beautiful and green!
