PLEASE pray, pray, pray
Oh my gosh, I just had an eye doctor appointment after work today and when they checked on my insurance coverage they told me that I was no loner eligible under my husband's insurance. I called my husband and he checked into it only to find out that apparently over 900 people at his job have found out that their spouses are no longer covered under their insurance plan. He says it's some kind of a mistake and they are trying to get it worked out but my surgery is scheduled for next Thursday and I am to go to the hospital tomorrow morning at 8 A.M. for pre-registration. Now I'm wondering if they will tell me the same thing the eye doctor did and not even let me proceed with scheduling this operation. I was told at the eye doctor's that I had to pay out of my own pocket since my insurance was cancelled. We've had this coverage for over 29 years and this is the first time something like this has happened.
I have gotten a letter of approval for this surgery, which I sent to my doctor, and they have been so wonderful about making sure everything was in place for me to have this operation. But, now that this has happened I don't know if that letter of approval will make any difference or not.
I'm just beside myself with this. I was doing so good on this diet and counting down my days....and now this. I can't believe it!!!! I can't even sleep tonight.
PLEASE pray this will not prevent me from having this operation. I had no idea how badly I wanted it until now that I think I might not be able to get it.

Jan - If it was a mistake then they should be working to rectify it, right?! If so, then you shouldn't have a problem since they should reinstate everything as it was. They can't arbitrarily drop you without notice - even termed employees get til the end of the month!!! In either case, you are definately in my prayers!

You're up too???
Oh Whitney, I'm so glad you are up and responded tonight. I needed someone to talk to so badly about this.
The thing is, they say they gave notice by letter and my husband said he remember something about it but didn't concern himself with it because he knew it couldn't be right. A lot of good that does me now. But, what I don't understand is how the doctors office could say that it was all approved if at the same time they are saying I'm not???
Thanks for the prayers. Maybe I'll know more about it after tomorrow's visit at the hospital and doctor's office. I'm needing a miracle now!!!
Much love,
Jan

Jan I hope all gets worked out very soon. Take that letter with you everywhere you go. I am not sure what kind of insurance you have and how their policy and guideline work but since they have already given you an approval for the surgery and they have given it to you in writting they have to honor that approval. Their should be an approval number that comes with it and an expiration date. Call and find all this out as soon as you can. Poor thing I can only imagine the things you are feeling. Stay strong and get your guns ready just in case they try and give you problems. Get all your paper work in order, mainly that approval letter. Big Hugs.

Give It Up
I know this is easier said than done but try to give it up to God! Have faith that this will work out. I know I have been going through my own things (trying to get insurance approval). I have decided that I have to give it up to God! Don't get me wrong I am still fighting but I just find some peace when I finally decide that He makes all the decisions. I will pray for you I know this is going to work out for you I have a good feeling.

Jan, is it possible that it is only the optical portion of your insurance that is messed up? Sometimes the medical, optical, dental and prescriptions are all insured under different carriers, although the main insurer is the figurehead (if that's the right term?).
Call your insurance company today and ask them if the approval letter is still in force, so there's no mix up the day of surgery. That would suck!

Thanks for the tips...and, as always, the support.
I had no problem, thank the good Lord, with my pre-registration this mourning at the hospital. So, I'm thinking all is well with my surgery. PLEASE GOD LET IT ME SO!!!! But, I certainly don't want to be told, after this is all said and done, that it's out of my pocket expense because my insurance has droped me.......because I'm telling you, my pocket has NO money!!!!
I want this so bad that I don't want to call and find out differently...I just want to get it done and then face what I must with the cost and insurance problems. My husband reassured me that it will all work out with the insurance company so I'm hoping he's right. I will continue to walk in faith.
But, I still appreciate all your prayers concerning this matter. I do believe in the power of prayer. It's got me this far.
You guys are the greatest!!!! Hugs to all of you.
Jan

Well, my husband says that all the insurance company needs to reinstate me is a copy of our last years tax return or a marriage liscense and mortgage that show both our names on it. NO problem there. I guess the insurance company is trying to find those who are divorced or no longer eligible this way. We've been married 29 years next week...so I'm most diffinetly still eligible. :-)
Thank you all for your prayers. They worked. :-)
