Default psyc eval completed!!

Well today i went to the pyschologist (however u spell it), i was all nervous up to it, and she was actually cool. i didn't feel she was judging me too much lol. Lasted almost an hour, and she had me take some test. really easy... questions about if i wanted to die or if i was depressed. but its all over. but my insurance said they cover it and all i have to pay is a 30 dollar copay. but i paid 110 because she said it was for the paper work write up. is that right? or did she misunderstand me when i said insurance pays for it except 30 dollars. eh i dont know. my mom said she was wrong. but the lady said if i overcharged or undercharged her then she will let me know. whatever. im just glad its done. i havent even had my first consult yet with dr. c haha just trying to get everything done!!
thanks for listening!

Congrats Kristy because even though you haven't had your consult yet that is always one thing great to have out of the way. Having a psych-eval was one of the most stressful moments in my Journey. It can be painful if you come across a good psychologist. If the lady made a mistake she will have to give your money back but like you said it is all done and over with, which puts you one step closer to reaching your goal(always a plus).

Default Stigma

Kristy:
My company has a separate mental health plan from our medical plan (Blue Cross). So, I originally called them to get a referral and approval. The mental health people told me that they didn't "do gastric bypass", and that I needed to go to a psychiatrist on my health plan because it was related to surgery, which I did. Well, I got a bill in the mail from the mental health folks saying that they wouldn't pay for it, Blue Cross said THEY wouldn't pay for it, so I was stuck. I called the mental health people back, they told me that even though they didn't "do gastric bypass" (sounds like they don't do the surgery, not the consult!!! ) that I would only be liable for the copay because the shrink's office didn't do their due diligence in getting the right approvals. Sounds hokey to me.....but, I'm happy to just get by with the copay. Somehow, I think this is going to come back to haunt me.

Seriously, we've said it time and time again on this forum, but why is there SUCH a stigma with this damn surgery? We get the run around at every turn, it's just plain mean. I asked the mental health people WHY they wouldn't cover the consult - it's a psychiatric visit LIKE ANY OTHER psychiatric visit, the nature of which is none of their business, why isn't THIS covered.....they didn't have a good answer for me. STIGMA!

Long story short - it's not uncommon to hit these bumps on the road to less bumps "on my ass". But, it's unfair. Wish we had a lawyer on this forum - smells like a good class action suit!

I'm not smart on insurance things. but i called that 1800 number and i told them i needed a consult for the gastric bypass so they gave me a list of psycologists in my area. plus someone suggested Dr. Zimmer in escondido who i went, who was also on the insurance coverage list. so i dont know what the dilio is! oh well... my mom paid, although i feel bad, but u know me! its over! hopefully by tuesday the 7th ill know if my (hmo) insurance will even let me see Dr. Callery, if not im taking the PPO side and paying whatever they charge.. like $4,000. and how do i get a medical loan anyways? its just for less than 5 thousand.. ugh money money money. why is this nation so greedy?
