pre-op pictures
Ya'll, I made the mistake of taking my before pictures a month before my surgery! Yikes! I can't believe I've been walking around this fat...granted I'm not going out in my bathing suit, but geesh. I hope these pictures help me to remember what I was like...I pasted them into the front of a journal I'm starting. My mom and sister ended up taking their "before" pics too, they're going on weight watchers. I guess there's something refreshing in stopping the denial and looking at yourself as you really are...refreshingly scary! lol..

Best Idea
I am a very visual person, so seeing all my before pictures shows me how far I have come and the progress I have accomplished. Some of us tend to see the numbers dropping but visual perception of us is still the same, which could be an negative effect with us progressing in our weight loss. So I highly recommend capturing them before pictures to enjoy later. They suck when you are taking them but they serve a great purpose for later on in the jounery.

Good Idea
Christy - That is a great idea. I know I need to get some before pictures done, but I guess I'm waiting until I actually have a date for surgery...then it will seem real!!!
Nancy - All I can say is WOW!!!

I'm afraid to ask my mom for the pictures she took of me the day of my surgery. And Nancy, dare I ask what you did to earn those beads?

Nancy - you look amazing!!! great job - you are melting!!!
I have started a picture book.photo album. I am not a scrapper, but am trying to be with this project. Each month I will take a few pix and put then in the album, and will have a section posting my dtates along with the date. Kinda corny, but will be cool to look back on when I hit a plateau...

thin people on diets scare me
Nancy,
Wow! You look fantastic! An 8/10 is an 8/10 girl, no matter how you look at it, you are definitely shrinking. I forgot that I had put the pictures in yesterday, I opened the book and I started laughing, almost on the floor, with this mix of horror and hilarity...like God must be laughing with me...needless to say, I'm going on a mixture of liquid and weight watchers until surgery date. Oh! So mom and sis went to the first WW meeting last night. The two other women joining had NO weight to lose, and when the leader said that the first goal should be to lose 10% of their body weight, one said "I don't have that much to lose." Some people should be kicked

i am doing the same thing - my husband got me a photo album for xmas & gave me the idea - he thought i would like it later on too...
i set the camera on a tripod in my bedroom & i took photos i a swim suit the day before my surgery so i had already lost 18 lbs - i was 225 and then this last week when i was at 3 months out i did it the same way on a tripod in my room with no one else there - OMG what a difference in my back seemed to be the biggest difference - as the photos were coming up on the computer i yelled come look at my butt all of a sudden i was showing the before & after photos to everyone...its so cool!
