Default Passed My Presurgery Exam

It's been a long 9 months but I finally made it. I've had my last EKG, blood work, and examination done. My doctor signed off just before noon today and surgery will officially be at 7:30am on January 16th of 2006.

I have lost 76 pounds in preparation for the surgery so there is no backing out now!! I will be having the RNY (sp) and hopefully it can be lapriscopically done.

Like the rest of you I could write a book on what it has taken to get to this point. Clinics that failed to set up appointments as promised, arriving for procedures only to be told you'll need a driver or we won't do them, using the short scope for the colonoscopy, having to repeat with a lower GI, failure to tell me what I should have known and done. Waiting an hour for a late doctor or specialist repeatedly.

My blood pressure goes up upon setting foot in the clinics parking lot. THANK GOD THE BS IS OVER!! Just mention the words "doctor appointment" and I crawl under my desk and shake!!

Surprisingly I feel really calm and have no regrets at this point, ask me that same question on Tuesday morning and it may change. :-)

Best of luck to you with your surgery. After all the frustrations and disappointments, it's finally going to happen!! Keep me updated on your outcome.

With luck I should be home sometime Wednesday. I'm hoping to be back to work in two weeks.

Best of luck to you with your surgery and the "NEW YOU". Collectively everyone here could write one heck of a book just on the trials and tribulations starting at the first introductory session to the day we finally have the surgery.

The doctor was very blunt and brutal about what to expect, and no one walked out.

I used to be a barbershopper (music) and had to give it up when my arthritis affected my legs. I still sing at church but I miss those days of singing with 70 - 80 guys (Great Northern Union Chorus); and competing at the International Barbershop Competitions. The best we did when I sang with them was 5th place; but they have always been one of the top 10 competing international choruses.

With the weight off, I hope to reclaim my spot on the risers. The biggest highlight for me was singing the National Anthem at the Vikings game while the flag that was flying on the World Trade Center on 9/11 was in front of us.

Oh say does that star Spangled Banner yet wave, oer the land of the free and the home of the brave. Your damn right it does, a little bit dirty and a few tears in it, but it survived. We had to fight the tears that night when we sang. A piece of history stood before us. :-)
