Default My gym is doing a "biggest loser" contest!

Without the torture aspects. I am so going to walk away with this! I know I can lose the most weight, but the contest is actually to see who can change their body fat percentage. One winner for men, one for women. You win a year's membership to this gym - about $500 value!

They had me hold this hand held thing that told them I had 49% body fat. That is 134 pounds of fat - YUCK! But it got me thinking - see if this makes sense to you guys. If I'm going to reach a goal of 135 pounds and assuming I'll keep about 25% body fat, which is 33.75 pounds of fat, that means that I'll have to loose 100.25 pounds of fat and 37.75 pounds of muscle. Does that sound right to you?

Anyway, wish me luck. I've been pumping the iron and going for 45 minutes on the darn tread mill or eliptical machine. I can certainly get up flights of stairs more easily now!

Remember that fat weighs less than muscle and the more muscle you get the faster you burn fat. Don't worry too much about the fat percentage - to have it done right, its quite complex and usually takes place in water. Focus on the keep fit, reducing the BMI and being healthy.
