Default Newbie - Energy level afterwards

New member here, just trying to find out what your energy level after surgery - after recovery I should say. Also, can you still do weight training once your body is healed?

Thanks

Mike

Hey Mike......I know many have different experiences, but I got my energy back pretty quick. I went on a trip to CA (I am in Ohio) about 2 1/2 weeks out and did tons of walking all day. I noticed a little extra fatigue, but was also struggling with protein at that time. I was totally back to my normal level by maybe a month to 6 weeks. I was told to wait 6 weeks for exercise and normal lifting and life......but 4 months for anything extreme on the abdomen. They said Curves was fine, but no to like an Ab Cruncher or Rowing type machines. After 4 months it's basically anything goes. There are a few men on here that do some intense workouts that would be able to know better your specific things too. Hopefully they see your post.

Thanks for the info, hopefully if there are any men or even women who do weight training can give some advice. Thanks again

Welcome Mike! After an adequate amount of healing time, I'm sure weight training is fine. I need to do some of that myself! I could use a bit of muscle. Lord knows I've got plenty of loose skin available to fill with muscle. Anyway, I'm glad you're here!

Default weight training

You can go back to lifting after three months (per the surgeon here in Iceland) but check with your surgeon there too. I went back to the gym the week after surgery just for cardio and have been doing cardio everyday since then. I am cleared for weights after Feb (three month point) until then I just keep increasing cardio- started at 2 miles a day, now up to 3.5 mph for 1 hr.

Welcome to the board Mike. I think everyone is different as far as energy goes, my first couple of days out I had tons of energy then I hit this period where I needed at least 2 naps during the day. Since you are a male you will drop faster in your weight, which could give you more energy. Best of luck on your new journey.

I am not quite 3 weeks out and my energy level sucks. There are days that I still need a nap to enable me to function all day. I know that part of the problem is not getting in enough protein, but it's not all that easy in the beginning.
