Default Pre-Opp Diet? has anyone heard

Hi I'm new to this forum and I have my surgery date for January 6th. I'm so excited. I thought I would be nervious but I have yet to feel any of that. My only question is that i've heard i'm supposed to do some pre-op diet. my doc. never said anything about it. I tried to call Friday but everyone was gone now I have to wait till tomorrow.

If your surgery is 1/6, I would think he would have mentioned it to you. You also should have received a notebook or a manual from your surgeon and/or nutritionist by now. Will you see anyone at your docs office before surgery?

Every surgeon has a different recipe. Some require it in everyone, some selectively, and some not at all. He would have told you. This is a busy week for surgeries. I can think of 6 off hand (mine included). I wish you the best of luck as I won't be here when you go in. Ususally it is clear liquids just the day before with the bowel prep.

I am hoping your doctor's office will call you tomorrow and let you know what you should do. I had to just eat light the night before...no bowel prep..yeah. I also had to make sure to avoid any greasy, heavy food.

Good luck..what an exciting New Years Gift to yourself.

This is one of those things that varies from doc to doc. Mine didn't make me do it. My instructions were to eat a regular breakfast, a light lunch, and a very light and early dinner. Also, I had no bowel prep. I assume they would have told you by now if this was a requirement.

These guys are right-not all Drs. have a diet requirement before surgery. Mine just said the usual, nothing to eat or drink after midnight-that's it. No bowel prep-- --nothing. I had my surgery on the 8th of Dec. and I'm doing fine.

I am just 2 weeks post-op. The only thing I had to do before surgery was nothing to eat or drink after midnight, that's all. When I got to the hospital they gave me a pill and a little water. This pill makes your stomach empty anything that is still in it. An hour later they wheeled me in for surgery. You will do just fine.

MY DOCTOR REQUIRES NOTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT AND A BOWEL PREP BUT NO PRE-OP DIET. I HAVE BEEN A LITTLE WORRIED BECAUSE I HAVE NO MANUAL NO NUTRITIONIST NO NOTHING BUT HE SAID WE WILL DO THAT STUFF WHILE ON THE LIQUID PHASE AFTER SURGERY. I HAVE BEEN WORRIED ABOUT THE LACK OF INFORMATION FROM MY DOCTOR. THEN I LOOK AT CARNIE WILSON AND HE DID HER SURGERY SO I KNOW HE IS GOOD. AND AFTER READING ON THIS FORUM HE WILL ONLY PROBABLY TELL ME STUFF I ALREADY HAVE READ FROM ALL THE PEOPLE HERE THIS FORUM AND YOU PEOPLE ARE AWESOME BYE BYE
