Lightbulb Cool conversion calculator

I found this cool conversion calculator on this site:

http://www.globalgourmet.com/cgi-bin...alc.hts+weight

I was curiuos about how many cups or ounces were in 99.2 grams of a Taco Bell serving of pintos and cheese when I poked around and found this (3.49 ounces, btw...) Happy calculating!

That is cool! Thanks for the link. I go to a local mexican restaurant all the time and always eat my few bites and get a box. I have tried to explain I can only eat 3 oz at a time and they never seem to get it. Finally, (I'm sorta slow sometimes) I figured out that didn't get it because of the metric system! Now I can do it in grams. Wonderful folks at this place! They let me practice my spanish and don't make fun of me.

Just be careful to note there is a difference between fluid ounces (volume) and weight of ounces (mass). You can take 4 ounces (by weight) of meat and grind it up. It will not measure 4 fluid ounces in a measuring cup. So if you are measuring refried beans and the portion is in grams...and you want 4 ounces...measure it on a scale, not a measuring 1/2 cup. I found this out the hard way when making some very difficult baking recipes where that minor difference between the two makes a big difference in the outcome.

Thanks, Dyann...i hadn't thought of that. I am still trying to figure out how I will count everything since I won't be able to eat an entire portion. I will learn, though!
