Default My introduction

I’ve posted a few times and have been visiting the site for a couple of months so I figured it’s time for a quick introduction. I have been overweight my entire life, like many of you. My entire family is heavy. You all know what it’s like so I’ll skip the details of growing up fat. I’ve pretty much been on a perpetual diet since 3rd grade. Finally a couple of years ago I got on Atkins. I was hardcore and lost 70 lbs and got down to 265 lbs. With my size this only made a dent but it was a noticeable dent. I felt great and was certain that I would not regain the weight like the rest of my family had done time and time again. Well shortly after losing the weight I got a girlfriend. That led to eating out more. I did good but could have done better. Then the holidays hit which didn’t help. The big thing that threw me into weigh gain again was having my tonsils removed. After that I quite working out and following Atkins. The weight came back on and now a couple years later I’m around 360 lbs. I hate my current weight and know that I have to get it under control. That’s when I started looking into surgery. After much research from this site and others, including some doctor seminars, I decided to go forward with gastric bypass surgery. My date is Dec. 27th. As the day gets closer my attitude is changing from that of fear to excitement. I’m anxious to lose the weight and get to do the things I love more often and with less strain. I know the road will be difficult but I believe it is the best option for me. For the first time I want to lose the weight for myself and not someone else. I think this is the key for me. Thank you all for your wisdom and insight to this point and for answering future questions that I will have!

Hey Dave,

Welcome to the group. That's great news on your date. I understand the excitement.......I hardly had room for too much fear! I was so focused on the "rules" and my health......and looking to a thinner future. I know you'll do great.

Hey Dave, welcome. I am new here too and had surgery only a couple weeks ago. I was excited all the way until the am of then I was scared. But, after a long deep breath and cry... I knew that this was the right thing for me! I have hated the way I look and felt for a LONG time and now I was making a real effort to change it.

I too lost 70 lbs after taking Phenteramine and thought there was no way I would gain it back but I did...all but 20 lbs and I saw myself eating my way there.! Now is time for change for all of us!

Good luck and you will be in my prayers!

I get down so often, and when I need a pick me up, I come here and remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel....( a honky light for Bridget!) LOL.

Dave I wish you the best on your Journey. Everyones Journey is different but the outcome is the same. Dropping those pounds and understanding the true meaning of "nothing taste as good as thin feels". Dave I look forward to your update and progress in your Journey.
